Jenifer's POV
'He actually thinks I'm being unreasonable?' The thought swirled through my head, leaving me completely baffled. I honestly couldn't wrap my mind around Reed's logic.
'When you knock someone down, shouldn't basic manners dictate an apology or at least some acknowledgment? How does he just brush it off like it never happened?' I wondered.
"Jenifer, Romano's only a child. Most adults wouldn't even get injured from a little bump like that. You probably just lost your balance and fell. Romano's not really to blame here," Lorelei interjected, clearly taking the boy's side.
The moment Lorelei spoke up, Romano's remorse evaporated completely. He convinced himself that I had simply stumbled on my own and was now pinning the blame on him unfairly.
Remembering how terrified he'd been moments earlier, and how everyone had been pointing fingers at him, Romano's anger flared.
