"Young Master Helmeppo is dead!?"
"Gulp… these people… they're doomed…"
"It's over. Colonel Morgan is going to explode!"
The Marines behind him stared at the corpse with terror.
Truth be told, most of them hated Helmeppo and wished him dead. But now that he was actually gone, all they could feel was fear.
Because Colonel Morgan ruled them like a tyrant—and now his only son had been brutally killed right before him.
Who could predict how crazed his rage would become?
Once he snapped, none of them would escape the fallout.
"Your son terrorized this town. He deserved to die," Zoro spoke coldly as the Marines blocked their exit. He showed no fear at all.
Nami stood behind Luffy, nodding along with Zoro's words.
"A useless brat who relied on my authority to throw his weight around… If he's dead, so be it."
Morgan's eyes turned blood-red. His massive axe trembled in his grip.
He fought to suppress his rage and glared at them with killing intent. "But what really interests me is this—how dare you kill him and then wait here instead of running?"
His eyes gleamed with cruelty as he bellowed, "If you killed that trash to avenge those worthless commoners… fine!"
"All Marines, hear my command—arrest every single one of them! Anyone in town connected to them must be executed!"
The Marines froze, horrified.
Executing random townspeople… that was too much.
Before anyone could decide what to do, a lieutenant stepped forward. "Sir, if someone has to die, it should be these criminals. The civilians are innoc—"
SHUNK!
Before he even finished, Morgan's axe crashed down.
Blood sprayed. The Marines nearby were splattered head-to-toe.
"Lieutenant!"
"If you dare defy my orders, you clearly want to die!"
Morgan glared at the corpse at his feet and swept his murderous gaze across the room. "Look closely—whoever questions me will die worse than him."
"Yes—Colonel!!!"
The Marines responded in terror, their faces pale as death. They clenched their jaws, seething but powerless.
"You bastards really think you'll walk away alive?"
Morgan raised his axe high, staring at the three with vicious triumph. "After I kill you, I'll report it to headquarters. I'll label you pirates and claim a heroic sacrifice for 'the greater good.'"
His voice rose with excitement.
Capturing "Captain Kuro" had earned him his current position.
And now, if he could report that his own son died fighting pirates, it would secure him another promotion—maybe even a transfer to Marine Headquarters.
"Gum-Gum… Bullet!"
A sudden shout cut through the air.
A shadow shot forward—a jet-black fist launching like a cannonball.
BOOM!
It smashed directly into Morgan's face.
He flew backward like a broken doll, crashing through the massive gate behind him. Dust exploded everywhere.
Every Marine stared wide-eyed.
Luffy casually picked his nose, then lifted the furious Den Den Mushi to his mouth.
He grinned. "Grandpa, you heard all that, right? Your Marine branch is infested with scum."
Through the Den Den Mushi, Vice Admiral Garp's enraged expression twisted across its face.
A lieutenant killed on a whim. Civilians ordered to be executed.
How could trash like this ever become a colonel!?
Vice Admiral Garp roared, "Luffy, turn the Den Den Mushi to maximum volume!"
"Oh—sure."
A moment later—
A thunderous voice exploded across the base:
"I am Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp, service number 0005!"
"Upon receiving reports from Shells Town civilians, I have confirmed Colonel Morgan's tyrannical rule. I hereby authorize my grandson, Monkey D. Luffy, to arrest him. Every Marine stationed at this base will cooperate without exception. Anyone who disobeys will be charged with treason!"
