Chapter 13 - Chapter 013: Garp: Say It — You’re the Man Who’ll Become Fleet Admiral!

"Hiss—!!"

"I didn't hear that wrong, did I? That was Vice Admiral Garp's voice!"

"No way! Vice Admiral Garp just said this kid is his grandson!?"

"Monkey D. Luffy… so he was sent by Garp to arrest Captain Morgan? Morgan's the criminal now?!"

The sudden twists left everyone stunned.

Especially the local Marines — their jaws nearly hit the floor.

They had long been fed up with Morgan's tyranny, but rank crushes all resistance, and no one dared defy this local tyrant.

They never imagined that Marine Hero Garp himself had been watching Morgan… and even sent his own grandson to take him down!

Garp had spoken to all branches before via transponder snail; every Marine recognized his voice. There was no way it could be faked.

And that black-coated punch from the boy in red… it looked exactly like Garp's famed "Fist of Love" turning jet-black!

No mistake — this had to be Garp's grandson.

In an instant, every Marine's gaze toward Luffy changed. Respect surged in their eyes — indescribable and overwhelming.

After Luffy retrieved the transponder snail, a booming laugh came from the other end:

"Hahaha! Luffy, you're still saying you want to be a pirate? Aren't you helping the Marines catch scum right now? Listen to your grandpa — become a Marine!"

"I don't want to. I'm going to be Pirate King. I just met this guy on the road and didn't like him."

"You brat! What Pirate King? You're gonna be Marine King!"

Garp was furious — his own grandson was driving him insane.

He roared so loudly the transponder snail trembled:

"You idiot! What's wrong with being a Marine? Can't you change your dream just a little?!"

"Say it — you're the man who's going to become Fleet Admiral! Say it and Grandpa will buy you meat."

Then another voice suddenly cut in from the line:

"Garp. What the hell did you just say?"

"Err… Sengoku, I'm just angry. Don't take it to heart!"

"Oh, I'll take something to heart all right. You're getting punished. Ten thousand words — write a self-reflection."

"Five thousand, maybe?"

At this point, Sengoku's tone didn't allow Luffy a single word in.

He could easily imagine his grandfather's face — like he had just swallowed something foul.

Behind Luffy, Nami couldn't help laughing. At the same time, her heart finally settled down.

Luffy really hadn't lied. His grandfather truly was the Marine Hero.

With that, saving Cocoyasi Village was practically guaranteed.

By then, Morgan — knocked unconscious earlier — was starting to stir.

Luffy glanced over and said to Garp, "Grandpa, I'm gonna go beat someone up. Hanging up now."

"Wait— don't kill him, or you'll—"

Click.

Luffy hung up before he finished.

He turned to Nami and said, "You and Zoro wait for me here."

"Okay~" Nami answered sweetly, her voice sugary enough to melt someone.

But the moment Luffy walked toward the gate, she immediately turned her gaze toward the branch headquarters building.

Zoro sensed something. "Nami, what are you planning?"

"Well~ Roronoa Zoro, don't you want your swords back sooner?"

"Yeah. So?"

"So we go inside. I'll help you find your swords, and you help me find the sea charts. And while we're at it, help me gather a bit of Beli. Deal?"

"Sea charts, sure. But rob the Marine base of its Beli?"

"What, you scared?"

"Huh?! Roronoa Zoro doesn't get scared! Let's go!"

As the queen of persuasion, Nami had Zoro wrapped around her finger in just a few sentences.

The two slipped quietly into the Marine branch headquarters.

Inside Belumeber's room and Morgan's office, they found Zoro's three swords — and twenty kilograms of gold.

They didn't find any sea charts; someone must've taken them.

But the gold alone had Nami so excited her eyes turned into Beli signs.

She muttered rapidly, calculating:

"At the global rate, one ton of gold is 432 trillion Beli… so one kilo is 4.32 million… twenty kilos makes 86.4 million… and under-the-table gold sells for an extra 180,000 per kilo… making it 3.6 million more… total… 90 million! Hahaha~~ I'm rich!!"

If Luffy heard her calculation speed, he would've been stunned.

Good grief — did Nami get possessed by a financial genius?!

Outside, at the branch gate.

Luffy looked at Morgan — beaten half to death — and grinned brightly.

"Surrender now, and I'll tell my grandpa to make sure you get a whole corpse."

"…"

"You little bastard! Are you kidding me?!"

Morgan was furious.

He never expected this brat to really be Garp's grandson — and even secretly call Garp to set him up!

"Don't be so full of yourself! So what if you're Garp's grandson? I'll kill you right here!"

Morgan grabbed two of his personal guards. The two exchanged a look.

Click, click.

They loaded their pistols, pointing the black barrels straight at Luffy.

"Trying to scare me?" Luffy laughed cheerfully. "Go on — shoot. I dare you."

Morgan's mouth twitched violently.

Arrogant — unbelievably arrogant!

The two lackeys felt their own skin crawl.

They had done plenty of dirty work for Morgan, and if Morgan went down, they wouldn't get off easy either.

But the one standing in front of them was Garp's grandson.

Shooting him would mean a fate worse than death.

"Shoot! Kill him!!" Morgan roared.
