After Cloud finish his shopping, he found that the money given by the chief has considerably depleted.
He has used it for a few things already after all.
He didn't used it frugally at all.
He is staying at a mid class inn which cost five copper coins a day. For reference, a bowl of noodles cost one copper coin.
The city's entrance fee was five copper coins. Cloud gave the guard seven.
The guard gave Cloud a visitor token and said that it would work for a week. After a week he has to pay more to extend unless he becomes a resident of the city.
The token can be used when he re-enter the city, if he go out of the city.
The money given by the chief is quite generous by the way.
He gave a pouch full off copper coins with some silver coins. Silver coins worth about ten copper coins.
What was given to Cloud in total would be more than one hundred copper coins, which would be enough for two weeks to one month if used frugally.
But Cloud didn't really care about spending frugally. He could get more money by hunting beasts, if he runs out.
And right now, he think it's the right moment to start.
Yesterday, Cloud has already rent his room at the inn for a week. He left his new clothes in the room, then he go back out to look for information.
He need information about where to sell the beasts after he hunt them.
After asking around for a while, Cloud found out that there are a few ways he can sell the beast after he hunt them.
He can open a stall and sell it that way. He can butcher it and sell the separate parts to different places like skin and bones to blacksmith and meat to restaurant.
But even the inn he is staying at would buy them. They would use it to make dishes.
The most profitable one would be to butcher it and sell the parts separately. But it would also be the most time consuming.
After some thought, Cloud decides to go tomorrow. He would use today to prepare.
He goes to a blacksmith to sharpen his short blade. He buy a hand drawn cart for transporting the beasts body.
He also ask at the inn if they would buy the beasts that he's going to hunt tomorrow and they are interested.
After preparing, Cloud do some training for the day. He can only do light training because there is no space and equipment at the inn.
Then he rest for the day and he wakes up early the next day.
After some light breakfast Cloud depart right away.
He pull the cart out of the city then he go upstream toward the mountain.
When he is deep enough in the mountain he store the cart at a secure area and start tracking for beasts.
It isn't hard at all to track a beast because the amount around is pretty much countless. One only need a basic tracking skill to do that.
Cloud has already learned this at the time when he lived in the village.
So he start right away without encountering any problem.
Cloud is after large size beasts so he look for one right away.
After looking around for a bit, he found a beast track and he follow it.
After running and following the track for about 20 minutes he found more clue.
The track becomes more fresh and he also found some other marks around the area.
It seems, he has enter the beast's territory.
According to Cloud's observation when tracking, this particular beast should be a bear of some kind.
He goes deeper into the territory and soon there is a bellow coming from his side.
Cloud turn to look and found a bear angrily bellowing and running toward him.
He draw his blade right away to prepare for battle but before he even clash there are two more coming toward him.
A total of three bears are coming from his front and sides.
He thinks whether he should retreat because he has never battle three large beasts at the same time but decides to try.
He has gotten stronger. Especially since the journey to the city.
He fought countless beasts then and sometimes it's even too much to fight that he needs to run.
But because of all those experience he improve by leaps and bounds. Cloud even feel that it wouldn't be long before he break through to the seventh stage.
Cloud focus his mind and battle the bears. As expected battling three at once is not easy.
He got hit several times but he finally managed to kill one.
When there are two left it's easier but he did not win flawlessly either and he got injured in a few more places.
But thankfully he was careful and those injuries are rather light. A few scratches here and there but with his strength its not life threatening.
When the battle ends, Cloud was breathing heavily. He is clearly exhausted after fighting three at once.
But he is also smiling. He can see that he has improve and that makes him happy.
After resting for a bit, Cloud tie up the bears body with a rope he prepared beforehand.
There is some distance away from here to where he left the cart so he has to drag the bodies there.
