Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

I remember watching a review on what order to watch the Fate series and the guy for half an hour with that clichéd crazy detective board tried to explain the sequence—like this came out in say 2010 but it's the first part of the story, and this in 2006 and it's the second part. And I think I only watched the first part, the very beginning. Between them are visual novel events, and here's this guy from a future parallel reality summoned as a Servant into this reality. As they say, without half a liter you won't figure it out, and remembering I only watched one anime from the series, and that a long time ago. And possibly not true.

And about the mage with mercury control ability I only remembered because he somehow became the main hero in a Harry Potter fanfic and his backstory was partially described there—the beginning of the fanfic was good, but then meh and I never finished it. Hmmmm, by the way, there he could partially summon the spirit of the Servant he had a contract with. Of course it's a fanfic and all, but a crazy thought was born in my head—devour a Servant's soul and get part of his powers and magic! And even a candidate appeared—the magician from the next war—maybe I'm confusing events, but hope not.

Mmm, elf? In Fate there are surprisingly many elves and even catgirls—I of course understand it's a conditional anime that grew out of hentai it seems, but adding extra details to historical figures or changing gender… that's still overkill. Like you read about Caesar—all cool and stuff. Got ready and summoned him as a Servant—and a loli with a tail appeared. And just melt trying to understand what went wrong. Considering in historical books it's a man, and not even a hint of beast-people or elves in world history!

But back to the elf-magician, if I correctly assessed the clip with her battle and flashbacks—then she killed her Master and fled to the forest, and between those events was a battle because of which she weakened. There some guy found her—seems a teacher and part-time killer. There was also romantic nonsense—the main thing is a weakened ownerless Servant of the Caster class. But as always there are two points—when this will happen and where exactly? No, clear in the forest—but forest is a very stretchable concept. And seems it was raining. Awesome landmark, I don't even know the date.

But luckily there's always a backup option! I exactly remember Servants can switch between Masters. And that squid I recently saw on TV… its Master was some maniac guy and he seems not a mage at all! Or didn't know he was a mage. But he didn't use magic at all. Hmm, seems the Grail gives a Servant to those with a strong cherished wish? Sounds like bullshit, more like just shoved a Servant so there are 7. If only 6 mages were found in the whole city, shoved the 7th to a random? This thought made me doubt the entire Holy Grail War even more—comes out kinda unserious, and considering something related to a demon and twisted wish fulfillment.

Mmm, don't even know—if we don't go into details, everything looks tempting, but if we look at details—not so much. Seems in the anime everyone died like flies and there was never a winner in… um.. how many were there? Well let's say 3 wars and there wasn't, and in the next there won't be. Servants again—sounds cool and all, until you look at their behavior and motives. I of course understand pompous dialogues before battle—possibly an anime convention, but if not, fuck. This if we ignore the strange desire to let the opponent go, operating with some honor and other nonsense.

Again the possibility to betray the Master and go to another. If we generalize, there's no worse enemy than a fucking idiot partner—and I didn't see any normal Servants in terms of discipline and obedience there. For them all this isn't a battle to the death and the most important moment of life, more like a fun party in Dota where you can mess around and have fun, where victory isn't the goal but a nice bonus to the process.

And if we add everything said earlier—desire to participate in this shit I have none, though desire to get a Servant and his power is tempting, but not worth it. Magic exists in the world, and there's no point diving into the Holy Grail War considering even if you win, best case you get NOTHING, worst case your wish is fulfilled—considering what I remember about twisted wish fulfillment and some demon—better not fulfill it. How wishes can be twisted I've seen many examples, in old tales about Aladdin and the genie, again even in The Witcher books there was an episode with a wish and an air genie, then in game part 3 there was even a quest to cancel that wish.

Maybe it's stupid—to end up in an anime and avoid its plot, but I'm currently 4 years old! The next war is in 10 years and I'll be 14! And that's clearly not the age for epic battles with demigods. And I exactly remember the 10 years because it was often mentioned that the Grail was destroyed, wish wasn't made and therefore it appeared much earlier. Normally it seems to have a 100-year cooldown, and yes into the pile of reasons not to dive, the Grail ritual is already clearly glitching heavily—because I doubt its creators expected such a force majeure.

So we grow, try to master magic, don't twitch and pray everything goes canonically and without apocalypse! And need to check where this Fuyuki is—to get as far away from it as possible, because ordinary people and background characters there died in industrial quantities. And yes, need to get a notebook and write down everything I remember—maybe more will surface in the process about this world. Yes, that's what I'll do! With these thoughts I fell asleep.
