Loki lifted his scepter and aimed it at the old man.
The old man stood upright, looking straight at him without fear.
Loki smiled slightly and fired.
The old man closed his eyes.
But the pain never came.
When he slowly opened his eyes again, he saw someone standing in front of him.
A woman with violet hair stood between him and Loki.
She had blocked the attack.
The old man looked surprised.
"Arasaka…" he muttered when he saw the logo on the back of her jacket.
The company had become famous in recent years. Many people believed getting a job at Arasaka meant their future was secure.
"Are you okay?" Sharon asked the old man.
He quickly nodded.
"Yes… thank you."
Sharon gave a small nod.
"You should leave," she said calmly. " We wil deal with this clown"
Others didn't hesitate and rushed to leave.
Old man also quickly moved away with the rest of the crowd.
Loki watched the scene with mild curiosity.
"Well," Loki said slowly, "another brave mortal."
Sharon crossed her arms.
"Not really," she replied. "Just someone who doesn't like bullies."
Behind her, the sound of a jet engine echoed in the sky.
The quinjet was arriving.
Tony's voice came through a small communicator in Sharon's ear.
"Nice timing, Sharon."
The quinjet flew low over the plaza.
A moment later, a red and gold armored figure shot down from the sky.
Iron Man landed beside Sharon with a heavy metallic thud.
"Sorry we're late," Tony said.
At the same time, another figure dropped from the quinjet and landed behind them.
"He doesn't look like a god to me," Frank said, holding his massive machine gun.
The smile on Loki's face only grew wider.
"It's not your fault for your ignorance. Your species is too weak to even sense the power gap between us," Loki said matter-of-factly.
"He sure talks a lot," Tony said as he fired a repulsor blast at him.
Loki easily blocked it with his scepter.
Sharon dashed forward and struck him before he could react.
Her fist smashed into the barrier created by the scepter.
The impact created a loud boom as the shockwave pushed both of them slightly apart.
Clint's voice suddenly came through the team communication channel.
"I'm in position," he said quietly.
High above them, Clint was lying on the roof of a nearby building with his bow ready.
"I'm watching the building entrance," Clint continued.
"Natasha is already inside."
Meanwhile, Natasha had slipped into the Schäfer Sicherheitsdienst building during the chaos.
She moved silently through the hallway.
Most of the guards were either unconscious or had run away during the panic.
Her communicator crackled softly.
"Natasha, status?" Fury's voice asked.
"I'm inside," Natasha replied quietly. "Heading toward the vault level."
Back outside, Loki swung his scepter again, sending a burst of energy toward Tony.
Tony quickly flew upward, avoiding the attack.
"Okay, pointy-horns," Tony said through his helmet speakers. " Show me the so called power of you gods"
Frank opened fire with his machine gun.
Bullets struck the ground around Loki, forcing him to step back.
Sharon rushed forward again.
This time she aimed a powerful kick toward Loki's side.
Loki blocked with his scepter, but the force still pushed him several steps backward.
Loki slid back a few steps after blocking Sharon's kick.
The ground cracked slightly under his boots as he steadied himself.
His smile slowly faded.
"So," Loki said calmly, "you mortals actually think you can challenge a god."
Tony hovered in the air above them.
"Buddy, you keep saying that," Tony said. "But so far I'm not impressed."
He fired another repulsor blast.
Loki swung his scepter and deflected it, the blast exploding against a nearby car.
Frank kept firing his machine gun.
The loud bursts echoed across the plaza.
Loki moved quickly, the bullets missing him as he stepped aside.
Then he slammed the scepter into the ground.
A shockwave burst outward.
Frank was pushed back several steps.
Sharon jumped forward again, moving fast.
She ducked under another energy blast and punched Loki directly in the chest.
The impact made a loud thud.
Loki slid backward across the pavement.
Tony raised an eyebrow inside his helmet.
"Okay, that actually worked."
But Loki quickly stood up again.
His expression had turned colder now.
"You dare strike me?"
He swung the scepter again.
A beam of blue energy shot toward Sharon.
She crossed her arms and blocked it.
The force pushed her back across the ground.
Tony immediately fired two repulsor blasts.
Loki spun his scepter, creating a glowing barrier that blocked both attacks.
Above them, Clint watched from the rooftop.
"Guy really likes that stick," Clint muttered.
He pulled back his bowstring and fired.
The arrow struck Loki's shoulder.
Loki turned his head sharply toward the rooftop.
Clint gave a small wave.
"Hi."
Loki pointed the scepter upward and fired.
Clint rolled to the side as the blast destroyed part of the roof.
"Just how does that thing still have this much power even at this range?" Clint muttered, seeing the large blast tear through the rooftop.
Below, Sharon was already attacking Loki again.
"Natasha, how much time will it take?" Clint asked through the comms.
Natasha's voice came through a moment later.
"We're too late. It's already gone. So stop playing with him and capture him now," Natasha said while checking the empty vault.
"You heard it, Sharon," Clint said.
Sharon took a deep breath as her hands began to glow.
"Try to survive this," Sharon said.
This time she moved ten times faster.
Loki couldn't even see her move.
One moment she was standing several meters away.
The next moment she was already in front of him.
Loki sensed something and tried to react, raising his scepter—
But it was too late.
Her glowing fist slammed directly into Loki's chest.
The impact sounded like a cannon blast.
Loki's body was launched backward like a missile.
The ground cracked as he was sent flying across the plaza.
He crashed through several cars and finally smashed into the street almost half a kilometer away.
For a moment, the entire area became silent.
Frank slowly lowered his gun.
"…Is he even alive?" he asked while staring at the destruction.
Sharon blinked and looked at the distant crater.
"…I didn't know he would be this weak," she replied.
