"They didn't come in?"
After entering Shangchi Hall, Kakashi concealed himself around a corner, intending to observe who was following him, how many there were, and whether they were friend or foe. To his surprise, the pursuers didn't enter the town at all!
Remembering Dragon's earlier instructions, Kakashi remained hidden, waiting for two hours. When no one appeared, he finally emerged.
"Did they give up? Or are they lying in wait outside?"
"Whatever. I need to find out if anyone's heard from Tsunade first."
Kakashi muttered to himself as he reappeared, dismissing the pursuers for now. He inquired about gambling dens in Shangchi Hall and headed to investigate.
The results were disappointing. No one in the gambling dens had any information about Tsunade's whereabouts.
Kakashi didn't suspect any deception. He had asked about a busty blonde woman with a young girl and a pink pig—a distinctive group that would surely have left an impression if they had been seen.
Since no one had seen them, it could only mean Tsunade hadn't come to Shangchi Hall to gamble.
"She never even came here! This leaves us with absolutely no leads!" Kakashi frowned slightly.
"We'll have to look for clues in the next town," he murmured before vanishing in a flash.
As he left Shangchi Hall, Kakashi worried that his pursuers might still be lurking outside. He chose a concealed exit and moved stealthily, which slowed his pace considerably.
It wasn't until half an hour later that he abandoned his stealthy approach and began traveling at full speed.
"Danger! Killing intent!"
Less than five minutes later, Kakashi sensed an ominous presence. A wave of killing intent was coalescing ahead. With an inward alarm, he immediately halted, his senses on high alert.
*How is this possible...?*
*They've somehow gotten ahead of me, and I didn't even detect their approach!*
Kakashi was stunned. He was certain the figure blocking his path was one of his earlier pursuers. He couldn't believe they had managed to intercept him so quickly after he'd slipped out of Shangchi Hall undetected.
*How did they pinpoint my location?*
He couldn't fathom it. There were no traces or clues to explain their movements.
*Swish! Swish! Swish!*
No matter how shocked Kakashi was, the moment he stopped, the hidden enemies launched their attack. Dozens of kunai and shuriken erupted simultaneously, hurtling toward his position!
"A trap! They even timed it for when I'd discover them!"
Seeing the attacks erupt from all directions, Kakashi's surprise deepened, his eyes growing intensely focused.
"Ninja Art: Substitution Technique!"
*Poof!*
Kakashi swiftly performed the hand seals, executing the Substitution Technique to evade. He also revealed his left eye, which had been hidden beneath his headband. In this precarious situation, not using his Sharingan would be foolish.
"Three enemies..."
"One at six o'clock, another at nine o'clock, and the last at twelve o'clock..."
With his Sharingan activated, Kakashi immediately closed his right eye. The Sharingan swiftly detected the enemies' positions by tracking the flow of their chakra.
"Fire Release: Fireball Technique!"
Just as Kakashi regained his footing, a ninjutsu attack blasted toward him!
*Sizzling!*
Simultaneously, kunai and shuriken continued to rain down on him from the other two directions!
The kunai and shuriken were thrown in a uniquely bizarre manner!
"Damn it! That's clearly the Great Fireball Technique!"
"Son of a bitch! The Uchiha Clan is after me!"
"That bastard Uchiha Fugaku!"
The moment Kakashi saw the Fire Release technique, his pupils trembled slightly. Recognizing the Great Fireball Technique and the distinctive throwing style of the bladed weapons, he immediately identified his enemy as a member of the Uchiha Clan.
A quick calculation in his mind revealed that Uchiha Fugaku, that bastard, was trying to kill him!
"Lightning Release: Chidori!"
Realizing his opponent was from the Uchiha Clan, Kakashi's eyes sharpened. He rapidly formed hand seals, and the Chidori materialized in his right hand, crackling with lightning.
The lightning flashed!
"What is that...?"
"Impossible..."
"He's actually condensed tangible lightning in his hand..."
The Uchiha assassins were stunned by the sight of Kakashi's Chidori. None of them had anticipated that he possessed such a powerful Lightning Release ninjutsu!
"Hmph! Die, you bastard! I perfected the Chidori using the Sharingan, and I never imagined my second victim would be a member of the Uchiha Clan!"
With the Chidori crackling in his right hand, Kakashi shot forward like lightning toward the Uchiha member unleashing Fire Release.
Leveraging the Sharingan's visual acuity, Kakashi pushed his speed to its absolute limit.
*Sizzle!*
A bolt of lightning flashed, and Kakashi's figure materialized before the Great Fireball.
*Crackling!*
The Chidori swept through the Great Fireball Technique, instantly bisecting and obliterating it. Without slowing, Kakashi continued his assault on the Uchiha member.
*Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!*
Simultaneously, the instant Kakashi vanished in a burst of speed, he evaded the kunai thrown by the other two Uchiha members. The first time, he had used the Substitution Technique; this time, he relied solely on his explosive speed to dodge.
"How is this possible...?"
The Uchiha Clan member stared in disbelief as Kakashi's Chidori effortlessly sliced through and extinguished his Great Fireball Technique. His pupils trembled violently.
Then, a bolt of lightning flashed toward him.
Caught completely off guard, the Uchiha member instinctively raised his hand to block.
The searing light from Kakashi's lightning strike blinded him, blurring even the shadows before him.
*Sizzle!*
In this desperate moment, driven by the instinct to survive, the Uchiha member abandoned all pretense of restraint. His Sharingan eyes snapped open—one with a single tomoe, the other with two.
*Chirping! Crackling!*
*Pfft!*
The instant the Uchiha member activated his Sharingan, Kakashi's attack struck. Lightning crackled, and a spray of blood erupted from Kakashi's chest.
