Chapter 30 - Leader of the Magical Girls

"Is Septarion here?" I ask Septarion as I arrive in front of an incredibly tall building with a very striking aesthetic that looks quite magical.

"Yes, Ayane, this is the base of the magical girls, there is a considerable number of them here," Septarion says with a smile, looking at the building.

"Wow... did you build it?" I ask with genuine curiosity about the building, it seems incredible to have built all this to help other magical girls.

"No, I didn't build it, it was a magical girl, she's the current leader who manages the building, she's also a very wealthy girl and wanted to help other magical girls by providing a place for leisure and rest at no cost."

"The place is well-equipped with various areas, and if you register, you can even receive payment, as she doesn't see any problems in paying other magical girls for their work in defending the city," Septarion says proudly.

"Oh, that's impressive." I get a little nervous about whether I'll fit in here just with this talk. I've always thought about helping people by becoming a magical girl, but I didn't think so deeply about creating something super complex that would help in this duty.

And this girl, whom I don't even know, has already done such incredible work and effort, creating something that will help thousands of people, and is still capable of leading it all and coordinating it in a way that has no problems.

"S-Septarion, will I have any trouble?" I ask nervously, just because of this, she already seems way above my level, and I feel nervous about going directly to this magical girl.

"Don't worry, she's quite... unique, but I'm sure you'll like her, and you'll be able to find the best team for you in no time," Septarion says calmly as he takes me inside the building.

I feel restless and even a little excited. Septarion said I should see her in person because this girl likes to look at the new magical girls face-to-face.

But Septarion doesn't tell me anything about this girl, so I'm totally in the dark here, and that makes me more nervous about making a mistake.

"..." As soon as we enter the building, I see how the entire place is extremely modern and organized, with various people working, moving things from one place to another.

It seems to have regular people here as well, among the magical girls. I thought we shouldn't reveal our identities to civilians, but it seems that here inside it's allowed.

I see some girls resting or chatting with others excitedly, which gives me a sense of confidence. I thought it would be extremely serious and rigid, but it seems it will be quite relaxed.

"The leader is on the top floor, in the penthouse. She usually spends a lot of time inside this base for personal reasons," Septarion warns as we go to an elevator.

As soon as we get in, another girl gets in with me. She looks at me briefly and then at Septarion, but remains silent as she clicks the button for the 50th floor, while Septarion clicks the button for the top floor.

"A-Ah, hello, I'm..." I try to introduce myself politely to her.

"I don't need to know," the girl responds coldly, cutting off my speech without even caring what I was going to say.

Knowing that she doesn't want to talk, I stay quiet, looking at the floor, a little embarrassed by this strange interaction. I think she must just be having a bad day or something bad happened.

"You shouldn't talk to your colleagues that way," Septarion reprimands her, but she ignores him as she picks up her phone and starts talking.

Fortunately, the elevator is extremely fast, so it soon reaches the 50th floor, while she goes away, leaving me alone with Septarion, which reassures me.

"Ayane, don't worry too much about that. Not everyone is very polite, and I'm sorry you had such an encounter on your first day, but I promise that almost everyone here will treat you well," Septarion apologizes.

"Ah, no, no, no, I'm fine. She must have just been having a bad day. After all, the monsters never stop, so something bad might have happened, and she's frustrated," I say, not wanting to worry him with my problems.

"Ayane, you're so sweet. You're right, she must have just been having a bad day. Look, we've arrived, and I'm sure the leader of them will like you," Septarion says as the elevator stops on the penthouse floor of the building.

I get out a little excited to talk to the leader of all this and see how it will be. I can't wait to work with her on this. The elevator stopped in a very luxurious corridor with beautiful paintings.

"Just go straight ahead, Ayane, and you'll find the leader, but I have to go. Is that okay?" Septarion says, pointing with his wing to the corridor.

"Yes, it's fine, but what are you going to do?" I'm very curious about the new situation I'm in and want to find out everything.

"I'm going to report some things to the reception. Since this place helps many magical girls autonomously, I decided to support them, so I sometimes do reports and deliver useful data for future magical girls."

"As well as delivering information about monsters, and sometimes I also receive information about monsters and other things," Septarion responds without any problem as he flies into the elevator.

"See you later, have a good conversation with her, okay?" Septarion says as the elevator door closes. I can only take a deep breath and prepare to meet her.

I walk down the corridor, appreciating the paintings. They are very beautiful and well-made, and the pure white walls without any stains remind me of a well-maintained museum.

I think the leader of the magical girls is an art enthusiast, and the way everything is perfectly clean makes me think she is a well-organized person, which makes me worry if I'm presentable enough.

I make a small adjustment to my dress and hair to look presentable without any problem, and I put a big smile on my face as I quicken my pace, stopping in front of a door.

Knock Knock Knock

I knock on the wooden door that has some drawn patterns, making the door itself a beautiful work of art.

"Come in," I hear a voice, not very loud and quite soft. I give one last push of courage and open the door, eagerly looking for the leader of all this.

"Hello, I'm Ayane Fujisawa, a new magical girl," I introduce myself politely to the girl in front of me. I said my real name because I don't think there will be any problems, since we are all magical girls.

"Pleased to meet you, I'm Ophelia Hecate," the girl says, and as I see her appearance, I notice she has long black hair and indigo-colored eyes, with a medium bust and a gentle tone of voice.

She's in a wheelchair, and has a soft but mysterious look. She doesn't seem very surprised to see me or anything like that. She just looks at me evaluatively and then moves her wheelchair closer.

Her beautiful brown and white dress sways gently, making her look like one of the works of art in the place.

"Does my disability arouse your curiosity?" She asks with a little chuckle, and unfortunately, I have to admit that it is indeed curious.

"Y-Yes, how do you act as a magical girl? N-Not wanting to talk too much or treat you as disabled, but how do you fight the monsters?" I ask, hoping not to be inconvenient or intrusive.

"I don't fight, as you can see, I'm unable to walk, and unfortunately my magic is not suitable for combat. I'm just a support, like you," she says without really seeming to think of it as an unfortunate thing.

"...How do you know I'm a support?" I haven't said anything yet.

"Intuition, or rather, Sententia Vespera, "Perception of Twilight," a poetic name for something that sees through the shadow of reality. Don't you think it's romantic?" She speaks in an amused tone.

"I don't understand?" I say, not understanding what she means.

"It's poetry. Think of it as a hobby. I like poetry, art, and romance, so I named my magic Sententia Vespera because it fit," she responds patiently to my doubt.

"I may not be able to fight, but my magic helps a lot of those who are here. Are you curious about that? It doesn't have many ramifications, so unfortunately I only have one power."

"But it's very useful on its own. I can see 'mirages' or 'visions' of the past, present, and even the future, of course, nothing too descriptive, it's more like an intuition, like it's going to rain today?"

"Or if you follow this path, you'll get hurt, but I don't know precisely what will hurt you. I have vague visions of certain things. That's how I knew you were a support like me."

"Wow! This magic is incredible!" I say, shocked by this.

"It's not that incredible, but it's useful, especially because things in the present are mainly based on me finding positions where monsters are hidden."

"However, seeing the future is very difficult and rare, and seeing the past is equally difficult, so I'm practically limited to things in the present. Of course, the main reason it's difficult to say about the future is that it's vague."

"Very vague... I always tell all the new magical girls what my magic is, so they trust my word more because they know I already know more than them."

"So if you need to know where something is, among other things, you can always talk to me. Of course, my legs may have failed me, but my brain is still running at full speed," she says a bit ironically as she moves closer to a sofa.

"Have a seat, let's talk a bit. I have things to explain, and if you want, I can tell you about your vague future," she says politely as she invites me to the sofa.

"Yes, with your permission," I say, trying to be polite as I sit on the sofa.
