Dabi was convinced his boyfriend Keigo was an idiot before but his texts that were just keyboard smashes at this point as he seemed to panic sort of cemented it. Dabi was just waiting for the Hero to realize that if he actually joined up with the League, he would end up in close proximity to the man he was more afraid of then the Commission on a regular basis.
His Dad stealing his Quirk four months ago scared the hell out of the Hero badly enough to wake him up to just how tenuous his position was with the HPSC. They had not reacted well to his decision to flee after his Quirk had been stolen and returned as if he could have actually done anything different. The fact that the man's only support system considered him so disposable was part of the reason why when they had asked him to try and approach the League as a "traitor" to the Commission he seemed to decide that they were actually his best chance out.
All for One aside, the guy didn't really view most of the League as an issue since mild pranks, vandalism and Vigilantism were the main bread and butter for the group. So when he dove out of the sky while Dabi was out with Tomura spray painting the billboard advertising Endeavor's new position of number one Hero, he had basically surrendered to them immediately and asked for a chance to talk.
While Tomura was less than thrilled at the idea of the Hero joining, Dabi picked up on the subtext of what the Bird had been saying from his own past experiences with the Commission as a kid. Dabi had taken one look at the stressed bird and grabbed the man's arm to pull him away, telling Tomura he would see him later.

"You better come back safe later!"
Dabi waved him off as he tugged the other man along to a more private roof. "Yeah yeah."
Hawks looked between the two before allowing himself to better fall instep with Dabi. "So which one are you? Mr. Compress, Blueflame or another one of the body doubles?"
Dabi lit up the tip of his finger for a moment. "I'm the only one that wears fingerless gloves. We've not been able to find a fabric I don't burn straight through, Quirk rated or no."
"You seem close with Shigaraki…"
Dabi came to a stop. "He's just worried because I haven't been healed from my gunshot wound for long. So the Commission is forcing you to try and spy on us?"
Hawks nodded. "It's a punishment for running away from All for One."
Dabi was a bit dumbstruck at that. "The man literally ripped your Quirk away from you on live TV and they didn't think running was the right decision? What the actual fuck?"
"I know right! What was I even supposed to do? Bite him? The only weapons I carry are my feathers!"
Dabi patted the man on his shoulder as he pulled off the hat, mask and balaclava. "If it makes you feel better, if you had kept fighting, I'm pretty sure he would have just warped you away. My little brother is a fan of you and he would rather die than upset him."
To his surprise Hawks violently blushed at the sight of him. "Fuck not just his voice is hot."
"What?"
"What?!" Hawks's eyes widened as he seemed to realize what he just said out loud before becoming more visibly flustered, wings fluffing and anxiously moving under Dabi's gaze. "Oh! Um, why would All for One care about upsetting your little brother?"
Dabi snorted at the clear avoidance tactic. "The only reason Loki isn't a member of the League is because of his age. All for One does not approve of minors possibly getting arrested. Nor do I for that matter. Anyways he is the one who introduced most of us to each other so he is like our group's mascot or something." Dabi shrugged.
"Ah. I guess that makes sense? So why did you join anyways? You had been on the vigilante scene solo for a while."
"Izuku thought I could use more friends and Shigaraki had a similar taste for vandalism as me since he was pissed at All Might for taking his Dad's face off literally in front of him."
Hawks paled. "So All Might really…?"
"Basically for no reason too. I mean sure, All for One killed the guy mentor but that was just as much in self defense as when he and All Might fought before. I'm pretty sure All for One would not have started that last fight if we literally hadn't been standing basically right next to him because once All Might stopped him, that fight was basically guaranteed to happen. He started it to make sure everyone on both sides was able to put some distance between ourselves and the fighting. Even with the buffer he got us, the ceiling nearly fell on the League and Loki's group were only around the corner from the fight when it kicked off."
"...So who is Yoichi? And the Second? I missed any explanation of that back during the fight if there was any."
Dabi sighed. "Yoichi was his younger brother. He transferred a Quirk to him to try and save his life but his brother's own Quirk allowed him to accidentally give it away to another holder. It kicked off basically a blood feud between All for One and all of that man's successors after Yoichi's health failed him. All Might was just the latest in the line. Believe it or not, All for One doesn't go around randomly stealing Quirks from people or killing them. As far as I know, my sister has a higher body count than him from her couple month long Quirk accident running around starving half to death."
Hawks jumped at that last bit. "Your sister has what?!"
Dabi gave him a blank look. "Himiko has a blood requirement in her diet because of her Quirk that her birth family was denying her until she completely snapped from hunger. She has nightmares about losing control like that again sometimes. She is perfectly safe now that she gets a blood pack at least once every two days but she generally drinks more than that."
"That's a thing that can happen?"
Dabi stared at him for a moment. "Hawks, you have special dietary requirements because of your Quirk right? What with you being a bird and all."
"Oh! Yeah I can't have caffeine. It's pretty poisonous for me." He paused. "It is just that I never thought about other people having issues like that. I mean, Mirko has never mentioned anything she can't eat because of her mutation and I know she drinks caffeine since she had to buy herbal tea specifically for me."
"She can't eat avocados." Dabi blinked before laughing at himself. "Shit I honestly have no idea why I know that off the top of my head."
Hawks gained a puzzled look before pulling out his phone and dialing someone. "Hey Rumi, weird question, can you eat avocados?...No, I am not attempting to poison you! I was just wondering out loud that I wasn't sure if you had similar dietary issues that I have since I know you can have caffeine and I am pretty sure rabbits normally can't and the guy I was talking to said avocados might be an issue for you."
Dabi snickered. "Tell Tiger Bunny, Blueflame says hi."
Hawks gave him a weird look. "...Blueflame to me to tell you he says hi."
There was an explosion of noise on the other end of the phone call that Dabi couldn't quite make heads or tails of. As Dabi snickered to himself again, he pulled out two of the business cards that Kurogiri had made up for the bar from his wallet and offered them to Hawks. "Tell her if she wants a chance to yell at me directly to come visit me here at my day job. Your spy ass can come too."
Pulling his costume back on, he left a confused Hawks on the roof. Less than a month later, Hawks was sleeping in his bed more often than his own. Less than two and he had practically moved in all of his belongings and was taking full advantage of Kurogiri's offer to open up Warp Gates between his place and the bar every morning and evening. Less than three and the avian man was crying in his arms over relearning his own name that the Commission had stolen from him, Takami Keigo.
It was still pretty early in their relationship and Dabi had to be careful with it since clearly Keigo had never dated anyone before. But that wasn't a bad thing since Dabi hadn't really dated much either, what with previously being homeless and being more concerned about his new family then dating up until then.
Hopefully he would not panic when his Dad borrows the Dadtective's Quirk to check to see if he was lying about being on their side or not…

Shoto:
Having dinner at a friend's place to celebrate finishing the entrance exams.
Todoroki Enji stared at the text from Shoto and debated trying to tell the boy no. It hadn't exactly been working lately. As much as he hated to admit it, the only reason he even managed to get him back home was because Fuyumi had moved back in. Even still, his son was still disappearing for extended lengths of time to hang out with his "friends."
Enji scowled as he thought of the fact that both Eraserhead and Present Mic had been helping their son hide his from him for months. And possibly Sir Nighteye as well, though that one was less clear since he did live in a different city.
Okay, maybe he had overreacted to the note but the fact that he had left his phone behind with no SIM card had implied a darker reason for his absence. And sure, he really should have noticed that Shoto was not home sooner but he had just assumed that he was avoiding him in his room since his own temper had been running high with the revelation that All Might was planning on stepping down.
At least he had some warning before it happened, even if it ended up happening much sooner than expected. Sure, he was still able to transform with his Quirk to do hero work in an emergency but he was very much on the retired Heroes list in the public. Besides, the man had mentioned he would probably not even be able to do that for much longer with his health continuing to decline.
How had his life fallen so far apart in so few months?
And how sad was it that his son who lived with him was just as rare of a sight as the one living in a completely different city for college?
Enji tried desperately to look back to figure out where everything had gone so wrong. Was it when Touya died? His eldest's suicide that led to his wife Rei snapping?
Or was it sooner than even that?
He wasn't sure. All he knew with any certainty is that his perfect little Shoto seemed happier without him so, as much as it pained him to step back from his life, he still did. And Shoto seemed to be thriving.
When was the last time he had heard Shoto laugh before he took the recommendations exam that he must have thrown the interview for like he had stated he would do multiple times? He wasn't sure. Had he ever laughed before? Enji did not remember much of the boy's life before Rei had hurt him and he was left struggling to pick up the pieces.
Despite everything, he still loved Rei even if he would never trust her alone with Shoto after what had happened. Thankfully that had not seemed to be an issue since Shoto had never once asked or tired to secretly see her. She was a non entity in his life. Much like he was becoming himself.
Shoto referred to Midoriya Hisashi as his Better Dad and Doctor Sasaki Inko as his Mom. A habit that Natsuo had emulated slightly only he referred to her as Doctor Mom instead and allowed Rei to hold the title still. At least Enji had to consider the appeal of being close to Sasaki in his case given that she worked in the same general field that he intended to get into. She had been helping him study so his even more recent unofficial adoption into the Midoriya family at least made a bit of sense.
Fuyumi did not have that same excuse. As far as he knew, his daughter was probably dating one of the older brothers for how often she was visiting them at the bar that they co-owned. With how often she spoke about Midoriya Dabi (the Blueflame Vigilante that they were not allowed to arrest until after the whole League of Villains was under lock and key) it was probably him.
It seemed like a poor choice on her part really given that she knew better than most what a bad match Quirk wise that a fire user and an ice user were for each other. After all, she was the inverse of what Touya had been, having an ice Quirk but a flame tolerant body. Maybe he should think about warning her off of that path.

Fuyumi smiled to herself as she finished packing up her bag to head home. "Girlfriend texting you?"
She looked up to see one of her fellow teachers in the doorway. She shook her head. "No, just Dabi. He actually used an emoji for a change."
Her coworker scratched her chin. "That is the guy who set you up on the blind date with your girl right?"
Fuyumi nodded. "Yeah. Neither he or his boyfriend had ever done a real date before so both invited us to be their moral support."
She nodded in return. "Oh yeah. How did you even become friends with this guy anyways? I don't think you've said."
"Dabi is one of the older brothers of my baby brother's best friend. He is the one who helped bring Shoto home when he decided to stop hiding from our Dad." She glazed at her phone again before wincing. "I've got to go now. He promised me a dinner that I don't have to cook so I don't want to be late."

Enji looked up from his paperwork. "Shoto texted me that he wasn't going to join us for dinner."
Fuyumi nodded. "Actually I have plans too. I got invited for a night out bar hopping with friends. We are going to meet up for dinner first. Do you need me to make you something real quick before I get changed and leave?"
Enji frowned. "I'll be fine. Have fun with your friends I suppose?"
She gave him a smile and vanished into her bedroom to change.
