"W—What?" Xie Fang's ears turned red. He was startled by Li Chang's words. "Look, brother," Xie Fang said, his voice rising. "I don't have any feelings for you." He clenched the phone tightly, uncertainty flashed in his eyes.


"Don't have any feelings for me either. It will only hurt you," Xie Fang explained, afraid Li Chang would misunderstand him. He waited for Li Chang to respond, but the line stayed silent.


'Did I hurt his feelings?' He lowered his eyes, imagining Li Chang's heartbroken expression.


Xie Fang felt he'd been too harsh, rejecting him directly; his throat tightened. "Li Chang?" he asked in a tiny voice, his eyes filled with hesitation. "I'm so—"
