Red joined the meeting. It was the same meeting that they held during the war. It was him, the Chief, and all the Goblin Champions. The difference was that the two Matrons joined the meeting this time. A new Matron was introduced, an old goblin with the biggest contributions in raising the new children.
Apparently, being a caretaker for the goblin kids was the requirement to be a Matron. This was the first time that he had heard about this. He also just found out that the Matron was not actually the Chief's wife. In fact, the Chief never slept with this woman. He had been living here as long as he could remember, but he never knew about those things.
There were indeed old female goblins who kept checking on the baby goblins. They also took care of the delivery process. He just never expected that they were the candidate for a matron.
