Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Hundred Lives Book

"Move it, don't act stupid."

A loud shout, a group of armed soldiers were leading around a dozen civilians over.

This was the seventh group that had been caught, and there were already over a hundred people gathered.

Everyone was nervous and scared, looking at the soldiers. They were wearing silver armor and silver masks, leaving only their eyes visible, which made them look even more scary and serious.

"Those are the Silver Dragon Guards from the capital!" Aiden whispered in shock.

He had once gone to the capital of Oracle Kingdom, Sanctum City, with his uncle. He had even seen the king walking around, and had seen these guards before.

But why would the Silver Dragon Guards, who were the royal guards, come to such a remote place?

"Could it be?"

Aiden thought of something, and looked over at the mountain base.

Thorny bushes and low shrubs covered a dark and deep cave.

Death Cavern.

That's the name the people living in the remote area gave it.

When they first found this cave, everyone was curious and went to explore.

But no one, not even animals, ever came back. And every night, there were low growls coming from the cave, like a demon whispering.

Everyone was scared and thought of it as a forbidden place, no one dared to get close.

"Princess, we only caught 135 people." a soldier said to the leader, being respectful.

Princess?

Aiden was surprised, and only then noticed the leader was a girl.

She was wearing silver armor too, and he hadn't noticed before.

Her guards were also a little thin, so they were all female soldiers.

I wonder if it's the first princess or the second princess from the God Realm Kingdom?

Aiden slightly stood on his toes, trying to see her face.

But it was too far, and her helmet was blocking the view, so he couldn't see clearly.

"That's enough, let them go first." A soft voice came, clear and nice to hear.

But Aiden felt like he was dropped into ice.

Some soldiers took their swords and easily cut through the bushes at the mountain base, revealing the dark and deep cave.

The people were forced to walk forward, obviously to check the way.

The cave was dark and deep. It was noon, the sun was high, but not a single ray of light could get inside. A chill rose in Aiden's heart.

"Let's go into Death Cavern to die? Dream on. Run!" Suddenly, a big man shouted and broke out of the crowd, running away as fast as he could.

Suddenly

A splash of blood flew, Aiden didn't even react, and saw that man holding his throat, eyes full of fear, taking a few steps back, and then fell down with a thud.

Blood was flowing from his neck, quickly staining the ground around him.

A soldier appeared in front of the man without anyone seeing, and gently wiped the blood off his sword, then put it back in its sheath.

Under the mask, his eyes were cold and emotionless, showing no feeling at all.

"Someone's getting killed!"

The crowd got excited, and people started shouting.

They were all honest farmers, when had they ever seen such a bloody scene.

"Shut up!" the sword-wielding soldier shouted, and everyone went silent.

The soldier continued, "You don't need to be scared. If you help the princess explore this cave, I'll make you nobles. Your kids and grandkids will be rich forever."

"Nobles!?"

People in the crowd were shocked, and some swallowed their saliva, their eyes full of excitement.

Being a noble was completely different from being a commoner, and noble status was passed down through families. It was almost impossible for a common person to become a noble.

Now there was a chance right in front of them, and even if they knew it was probably a death sentence, everyone wanted to try their luck.

Aiden hid in the crowd and took a few steps back.

The promise of nobility was strong, but only if they could survive.

These soldiers weren't even willing to step into the cave, so they were clearly trying to send them in to die.

Aiden wanted to run, but the soldiers around him were watching closely, blocking all the exits.

He had no doubt that if he ran, he would end up like that big guy just now.

A cold wind blew from the cave, and everyone shivered without knowing why.

Some people were only a few steps away from the cave, but it was still completely dark. The deep cave looked like a beast waiting to eat people, and it made them feel scared.

The people in front stopped and didn't move forward anymore.

"Go in!" a soldier growled, pulling out his sword and threatening them.

They were right in front of the cave, and there were only two choices left: go in or die by their swords.

The people in front bit their lips and stepped into the cave, trying to be brave.

At this point, Aiden had fallen to the back of the crowd, but he still hadn't found a way to escape. He had no choice but to follow the group and go into the cave.

A cold wind blew in his face, and he shivered.

Phut!

A flash of fire behind him scared him. The soldiers had also come in and lit torches.

"Princess, you should stay outside. We'll explore." a soldier said politely.

"No, I'll follow you. There's no danger." The girl's voice was gentle, but it had a strong power.

The soldier said yes politely and didn't say anything else, just stayed by the princess and watched around carefully.

Under the torchlight, Aiden saw the girl's face and was shocked.

She looked about eighteen or nineteen, with bright eyes and white teeth, like a heavenly being, but her face looked a little young.

She must be the second princess of Oracle Kingdom, Daisy.

"Pass the torch forward." a low voice startled Aiden. A torch was handed to him.

He quickly looked away and swallowed, then took the torch and passed it to the person in front.

Under the torchlight, everyone felt a little more at ease. With so many soldiers around, they thought no beast would dare to act up.

The sound of footsteps and clinking armor echoed in the deep cave. They had gone far inside, and the exit behind them was just a small light.

This cave was way deeper than they thought.

Suddenly, a low growl came from the front.

"Demons!"

"Run!"

"Scared screams came, and the crowd got excited, rushing backward in panic."

Aiden's nerves were tight, under the flickering firelight, he barely saw the monster in front of him.

It was a group of pale skeletons, their eye sockets glowing with green light, terrifying and scary.

A wind blew behind Aiden, and he instinctively ducked down.

His face felt warm, and a head flew past, landing at his feet.

He felt his legs shaking, unable to move an inch.

"Don't retreat!" A low voice shouted, and soldiers rushed forward, their long swords shining. Anyone who tried to step back was mercilessly cut down.

The people were shocked and angry. There were skeletons ahead, and soldiers behind, they were trapped.

A low voice, and a skeleton was already attacking Aiden, before he could react, he felt a pain in his chest.

The skeleton's fingers were like knives, piercing his heart, and red blood flowed from the white bones.

The monster's eye sockets glowed green, as if it was really excited.

Crack!

A flash of cold light, a soldier cut the skeleton's bones in half.

Aiden had no support, and his body slid against the cave wall, falling down weakly.

"Quick, there's a platform ahead, run to the platform!" The crowd shouted, and the soldiers escorted the princess past him, not even looking at him.

"Help me!" Aiden wanted to call for help, but he opened his mouth and couldn't make any sound. His consciousness was getting more and more blurry.

Aiden faintly heard a cold, emotionless electronic voice echoing, then he lost consciousness completely.

"Move it, don't act stupid!"

Suddenly, a shout came.

Aiden woke up, his face pale, and instinctively touched his chest, which was intact.

What happened?

He stared wide-eyed, confused, and saw several soldiers leading a dozen people behind him.

There were still many people gathered here.

The scene before him was so familiar.

He thought about what happened when he entered the cave earlier, it was like a dream, but why did it feel so real?

Aiden's eyes scanned the crowd and saw the big man. He should die under the soldiers' swords soon.

There was also the thin soldier, who was being closely protected, that was Princess Daisy from Oracle Kingdom.

This wasn't a dream, it was a rebirth?

Aiden's thoughts flashed quickly, and he suddenly remembered the cold voice before he died.

A system?

He thought, and sure enough, a panel appeared.
