Cops flooded into the cafeteria's kitchen. I was laying in a pool of my own blood next to the man who came into the building with a gun. "Dispach the armed assailant has received a stab wound to the upper chest no pulse. Also a cook with two gunshot wounds to the gut and one in the thigh."
Everything went black for a moment. I awoke being carried into an ambulance. "Are they going to be ok… The people in the walk-in cooler." I ask weakly."
"Yeah Bob they are a little cold but they will be just fine."
I let out a breath. In my heart I know I have done my job as a man. I protected those weaker than me.

"Hello my child." a disembodied voice said.
"What, who are you? I thought I was dead."
"You are Bob. But you saved 14 others by sacrificing yourself even when you could have gotten away and saved yourself. I am God and for your bravery I am going to ask you to do something for me."
"Well I guess depending on what you want me to do. But to be honest I'm tired, boss dog tired."
"Well this thing I want you to do is not time sensitive but starting it is. Another world needs some help and given you are dead your soul will be reincarnated anyway but what I am offering is to let you be reborn in a different world with your memories intact."
"Well what would I need to do in this other world? Kill the demon king or something like in those isekai anime."
"Kinda, a portal to the lower plains has opened. The armies of the other world are doing fine holding the demons off because I have placed a ban on greater demons leaving the portal before a hero reaches level 50 and do know that you are not the only one I'm asking. I am currently talking to 13 others. I need you to close that portal."
"Well why not. I will want some starting gear though." I said.
"I will give you access to the system shop and 300 credits. That would be about equivalent to $1000 USD. Money is worth more in this other world so this is what a laborer would make in a half a year."
