Ryuya curved his lips slightly and patted Kaigaku's shoulder as if they were close brothers.
"Don't be afraid, Kaigaku. You're my lucky star. Without you, I wouldn't have found the Swordsmith Village. And Iguro Obanai wouldn't have left the Demon Slayer Corps so easily. You're my good brother. Why would I kill a good brother?"
He glanced at the Lower Ranks behind him.
"What do you all think?"
"Young Master Ryuya is correct!" the Lower Moons replied in unison, closing in around Kaigaku.
Ryuya's expression shifted instantly.
"The main objective is to destroy all Nichirin Blades and the materials used to forge them. Strip the Demon Slayer Corps of their weapons. Understood?"
"Understood, Young Master!"
"Rui, tie our good brother to that pillar. Let him admire our work."
Ryuya's rose-red eyes flashed with killing intent.
"Blood Demon Art: Threaded Cocoon."
Rui's spider silk shot forward, wrapping Kaigaku layer upon layer before binding him tightly to a wooden pillar.
The threads were sharp enough to slice through steel. Kaigaku did not dare struggle.
Then the Lower Moons began their assault.
Drumbeats thundered as Kyogai struck the drums embedded in his body. The landscape shifted violently.
Spider silk sliced through rooftops.
Explosions echoed as blood-colored insects detonated structures.
Thorns sprouted wildly and coiled around fleeing villagers.
Masked swordsmiths screamed in terror.
Blood stained the bamboo houses.
The peaceful Swordsmith Village became a nightmare.
Kaigaku trembled.
He had led them here.
He was the one who brought ruin upon this place.
While the Lower Moons wreaked havoc, Ryuya slipped away to rendezvous with Kochou Kanae.
Reinforcements from the Demon Slayer Corps would not take long.
Within that limited window, they needed to locate the mechanical doll—Yoriichi Type Zero—and retrieve the Nichirin Blade hidden within.
That blade was Ryuya's true objective.
An essential step toward mastering Sun Breathing.
—
Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters.
The residence of Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
Gathered before the Master were four Hashira:
Stone Hashira Himejima Gyomei.
Wind Hashira Shinazugawa Sanemi.
Water Hashira Tomioka Giyu.
Sound Hashira Uzui Tengen.
"Has the Flower Hashira truly left the Corps?" Gyomei asked solemnly. "And what of the Butterfly Mansion?"
Sanemi's veins bulged. "That traitor threw herself under a demon's command. I'll cut off her head myself."
To him, Kochou Kanae was no longer a comrade.
Uzui clicked his tongue. "That's hardly flamboyant."
Giyu remained silent, his thoughts drifting toward Iguro Obanai's disappearance—and Sabito's unknown fate.
"The Butterfly Mansion has not formally severed ties," Kagaya Ubuyashiki replied gently.
He then revealed another matter.
"According to Shinobu Kocho's report, the leader of the Eternal Paradise Cult is Upper Rank Two—Doma."
The room fell heavy.
"Upper Rank Two," Uzui murmured. "The ice demon whose Blood Demon Art counters Breathing Techniques."
"Correct," Kagaya said.
Gyomei's voice deepened. "Aside from Upper Rank One, Upper Rank Two poses the greatest threat beneath Muzan."
Sanemi stood abruptly. "Then there's no time to waste. We go together and cut him down."
"Sanemi," Kagaya said softly, "sit."
Reluctantly, Sanemi obeyed.
"If we know about Upper Rank Two," Kagaya continued, "they may also know that we know. A rash assault could be an ambush. Our strength is already strained. We cannot afford recklessness."
Silence followed.
Then—
A crow burst into the courtyard, cawing frantically.
"The Swordsmith Village is under attack by Lower Rank demons! The Swordsmith Village is under attack!"
All four Hashira rose instantly.
"The Swordsmith Village?" Uzui's tone sharpened.
Kagaya closed his eyes and activated the Ubuyashiki clan's foresight.
The result came.
Not auspicious.
Not clearly ominous.
Unknown.
His expression darkened slightly.
"The Swordsmith Village is the lifeline of our weapons," Kagaya declared firmly. "It must not fall."
His voice strengthened as he issued orders.
"Stone Hashira Himejima Gyomei. Wind Hashira Shinazugawa Sanemi. Water Hashira Tomioka Giyu. Sound Hashira Uzui Tengen."
"You will take A-rank members and immediately reinforce the Swordsmith Village."
"Slay the demons."
"As you command, Lord Ubuyashiki!"
Without hesitation, the Hashira departed.
Far away, beneath the rising moon, the Swordsmith Village continued to burn.
