Swordsmith Village.
With Kanae's assistance, Ryuya successfully captured the young swordsmith Kotetsu.
Kotetsu's ancestors had left behind a combat doll—Yoriichi Type Zero.
It was originally designed to help members of the Demon Slayer Corps cultivate their skills.
But time had taken its toll. The doll was worn and fragile, barely functional.
"Ryuya…"
Under threat, Kotetsu walked ahead unwillingly, leading the way.
Kanae followed silently beside Ryuya.
Though she had chosen to stand with him, harming the swordsmiths weighed heavily on her heart. The destruction unfolding across the village unsettled her even more.
Her dream of peace between humans and demons—
Was it nothing but illusion?
"Hui Hui," Ryuya said softly, taking her hand, "conflict between humans and demons is carved into their bones. It can't simply be erased."
Kanae lowered her gaze.
Only after stepping into the demons' world did she truly understand.
To humans, demons were calamities—existences that should not exist.
To demons, humans were food.
It was instinct.
From a demon's perspective, eating humans was no more evil than a wolf hunting sheep.
Was the wolf wrong?
Or was it simply nature?
The problem was not simple morality. It was perspective. Survival. Instinct. Law.
"But I promise you," Ryuya continued steadily, "if I stand at the head of this pack instead of Muzan, I will impose new rules. I will restrain them. I will build a bridge. Peace may not be pure or perfect—but it will exist."
Kanae smiled faintly.
Her dream had been gentler—peace without bloodshed.
But reality was not gentle.
It was beauty within cruelty.
Ryuya's path was harsher, but it was real.
Currently, the demons were ruled by Kibutsuji Muzan.
Muzan's worldview was absolute: demons must consume humans to grow stronger. It was law. It was survival. It was order.
Anyone who opposed that law would be destroyed.
If Ryuya openly defied Muzan now, he would die.
So he endured.
Every slaughter. Every battle against the Demon Slayer Corps. Every "necessary sacrifice."
If he did not act, he would not survive long enough to change anything.
Kanae understood that.
And because she chose him, she accepted the cost.
But one question remained.
"Why risk everything?" she asked quietly. "You stand just beneath Muzan. You have status. Power. Why abandon it?"
Ryuya's expression darkened slightly.
"For you," he said calmly. "And for myself."
He despised the feeling of his life being controlled.
To Muzan, he was not a son.
He was a tool.
If he had not mastered Moon Breathing under Kokushibo, Muzan might never have valued him at all.
There had been no fatherly warmth.
No affection.
Only utility.
In truth, Kokushibo had raised him.
From the age of three, he trained under Upper Rank One, refining Moon Breathing, shaping his strength.
Muzan had merely watched.
Measured.
Calculated.
If Ryuya lost his usefulness, Muzan would erase him without hesitation.
That was Muzan's true face.
Cold.
Pragmatic.
Empty of attachment.
Ryuya's loyalty to Muzan was built not on blood, but on necessity.
And necessity could be broken.
Meanwhile, chaos continued to ripple across Swordsmith Village.
In the distance, the sounds of battle echoed.
The Lower Moons were buying time.
Ryuya tightened his grip on Kanae's hand.
"We're close," he said.
Ahead, hidden within a storage structure, stood the battered form of Yoriichi Type Zero.
The key to his next step.
And somewhere far away—
Four Hashira were already racing toward the village.
