In the depths of space—
King Cold's enormous spaceship was heading toward Planet Namek at maximum speed.
Inside the vessel, the atmosphere was oppressively heavy, yet beneath that suffocating pressure lurked something strange and unsettling.
No one dared to speak. Every subordinate held their breath.
The reason was simple.
A report had just arrived from Namek.
Frieza was dead.
Killed by the Saiyan known as Vegeta, after he transformed into a Great Ape.
Yes—
That was exactly what Captain Ginyu's scouter had transmitted before its signal vanished.
After an unknown length of silence, King Cold slowly crushed the wine glass in his hand.
The crystal shattered, shards biting into his palm. Red wine mixed with blood and dripped down his fingers.
He didn't care.
Instead, he covered his face with that bloodstained hand, threw his head back, and burst into wild, maniacal laughter.
"Hmph… hmph hmph hmph—HAHAHAHAHA!! My son… my dear Frieza… was actually killed by a filthy Saiyan monkey?!"
Who could possibly understand what King Cold was feeling at that moment?
Even if they could, none of them dared to speak.
Mozart, one of King Cold's most trusted subordinates, understood him well.
He knew that this laughter—seemingly filled with grief—was in fact overflowing with excitement and twisted delight.
Only after a long time did King Cold's laughter finally subside.
His expression grew cold. Sinister.
"I warned you long ago, my foolish, pitiful son. You were far too arrogant," King Cold muttered, his voice dripping with mockery.
"If you had spent time truly mastering your own power, you wouldn't have needed so many transformations… To die at the hands of a Saiyan monkey—how utterly laughable."
He paused, then sneered.
"Your older brother, Cooler, handled things far better than you ever did."
King Cold shook his head slowly.
Frieza, his youngest son, had always been conceited.
This death was, in many ways, the result of his own arrogance.
"Well… perhaps you simply lacked the fate of immortality," King Cold continued calmly.
"When I arrive on Namek, I will avenge you. After I personally send that Saiyan down to join you, you can settle the score with him yourself."
From beginning to end, King Cold never doubted the report.
He had no idea that Ginyu's message was only speculation.
Vegeta had never explained how Frieza died.
King Cold simply assumed that Vegeta had caught Frieza before he transformed, then crushed him using the Great Ape's tenfold power.
He didn't consider any other possibility.
He called Frieza arrogant—but in truth, he was exactly the same.
And that arrogance was quietly sealing his fate.
After a long pause, King Cold looked at his subordinates.
"How long until we reach Namek?"
Mozart answered immediately, his posture rigid.
"Reporting to Your Majesty—approximately two days."
"I want an exact time."
"…Fifty-two hours."
King Cold nodded slightly, then turned to an attendant.
"Prepare a new set of wine utensils."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The subordinate bowed and hurried away.
…
Far away, in another region of space—
Another massive warship received the same transmission.
This one belonged to Cooler.
Frieza's death shocked everyone aboard. It was difficult to believe—almost absurd.
After all, Saiyans were nothing more than arrogant, self-righteous monkeys… or so they believed.
"I said it back then," Cooler said calmly, reclining in his hover chair.
"If you're going to kill them, then kill them all. Eradicate them completely. You were always too naive, my foolish little brother."
His tone was indifferent, almost bored.
"Lord Cooler," Salza spoke up, standing beside him.
"Is it really possible that King Frieza was killed? Even with a power level of 180,000 and a Great Ape transformation, it shouldn't be enough. Frieza had over 530,000 power even without transforming."
Because Salza spoke, Neiz and Dore—the other two members of Cooler's Armored Squadron—couldn't help but add their thoughts.
"How did that Vegeta raise his power to 180,000 in the first place?" Neiz frowned.
"All intelligence reports put him at only 18,000 for years," Dore added.
"And there's also that Saiyan named Goku," Salza continued.
"The one who killed Ginyu. According to Ginyu's last data, his power exceeded 300,000—even higher than Vegeta's. Is that really possible?"
"The scouter shouldn't be wrong…" Neiz muttered.
They discussed back and forth.
Cooler listened without interrupting.
He was far more composed than either Frieza or King Cold.
As for Earth… the mention of it stirred distant memories.
He remembered that a Saiyan infant had once been sent there. That child's power level had been 2.
Could that infant and this Goku be the same person?
Cooler dismissed the thought almost immediately.
A power level of 2… and 300,000…
They were worlds apart.
But if they were the same person…
That would be interesting.
"There's no need to speculate," Cooler said at last.
"My father will arrive on Namek in two days. He'll uncover the truth himself."
With those words, the others fell silent.
They had followed Cooler for many years.
They knew exactly when to speak—and when to stop.
…
Planet Namek.
Inside Frieza's former spaceship, Vegeta stood quietly, gazing outside.
He watched Krillin and Gohan carry Goku away, clearly heading toward the Grand Elder.
That much was expected.
What surprised him was that Bulma and Dende stayed behind.
After a moment's thought, Vegeta understood Bulma's reasoning.
She didn't want to fly back and forth unnecessarily. Since she was already here—and surrounded by advanced alien technology—she might as well stay and research.
Besides, her father's spaceship was also nearby.
But Dende staying puzzled him slightly.
The most likely explanation was that they had built a good relationship over the past few days.
Perhaps the Grand Elder had asked Dende to remain here and help.
Or maybe Dende felt this was the only place where he could truly be useful.
When everything settles… should I take him with me?
The thought surfaced naturally in Vegeta's mind.
In the end, they were all heading to Earth anyway.
And Earth's Dragon Balls desperately needed an upgrade.
One wish a year was far too limited.
If he brought Dende to Earth early, the Dragon Balls could be improved early as well.
Even three wishes a year felt insufficient.
More importantly—
With Dende at his side, Vegeta would have an absolute safety net.
A super healer.
As long as he was injured or exhausted, a single treatment would restore him completely.
Senzu Beans were miraculous—
But Dende's healing was no less terrifying.
