Chapter 116 - Ep. 115 - Born Ready! A Fiery Welcome at Hell's Core!

Goten: I can't seem to sense anything through this infernal heat and molten debris, *Goten muttered, shielding his eyes as he scanned the oppressive surroundings.*

Melody frowned, trying to focus. She could barely extend her senses either; the overwhelming, blistering heat and the constant, deafening roar of roaring fire completely drowned out all other energy signatures. Just ahead of them, a massive river of thick lava bubbled violently. There was no clear path in sight—just endless, scorching suffering. They were going to have to rely on pure exploration, or hope that the catalyst left some kind of distinct visual marker in this hellscape.

Melody: Do you have any idea where exactly Vegeta trained? Or was Hell, overall, just his training grounds? *Melody asked, wiping a bead of sweat from her brow.*

Goten: *He rubbed his chin, thinking back to the old stories he was told.* Vegeta mostly trained in the lower levels—where the gravity pressure and heat are at their absolute worst. He called it 'Hell's Core.'

That seemed as good a place to start as any. If the catalyst was anywhere, it would likely be hidden away where a Saiyan Prince would have endured his most hellish training. Goten pointed toward a narrow, jagged ravine cutting downward into even thicker smoke and rising flames.

Goten: This is bonkers and completely insane if you think about it, *Goten said with a slight chuckle as they began heading further into Hell's tummy.* One moment we were kissing and giving in to physical affection, and the next, we're being smothered by weeping mothers. I can't even remember anything that happened in between.

Melody chuckled, nodding along. Their lives truly were a whirlwind. One second they were sharing soft, romantic kisses, and the next, they were jumping into life-or-death missions and taking scoldings from Bulma. She gently squeezed Goten's hand as they trekked together through the suffocating heat. The contrast was wild, but that was simply their reality now.

Up ahead, a massive structure slowly emerged from the thick, billowing smoke—a jagged obsidian tower pulsing with glowing, magma-filled cracks. It looked exactly like the kind of place Vegeta would choose. This had to be his old training grounds.

Melody: Honestly, Goten, I'd rather not remember the in-between at all, *Melody said, a soft smile gracing her lips as she looked at the young man she loved with all her heart.*

Goten smiled back. Melody's love was the one beautiful constant in his chaotic life. Everything else was pure madness, dangerous missions, and family drama—but her? She was pure warmth. Leaning down, he kissed her forehead quickly, a small act of sweet affection despite Hell's oppressive misery closing in around them.

The obsidian tower loomed closer. If they were lucky, the Black Zircon catalyst would be waiting inside, untouched by time or demons. But deep down, both of them knew a quiet mission wasn't in the cards. They had already fought against two massive titans on this quest; this final piece wasn't going to go down quietly either. Sure enough, as they approached the base of the tower, a low, menacing growl echoed from the shadows. Then another. And another.

Hell's local inhabitants were watching them, and they weren't friendly. A predatory pack of demonic beasts—half-molten, fanged creatures with glowing, blood-red eyes—slunk out from behind the burning rocks, circling Goten and Melody like wolves.

Goten cracked his knuckles, shifting effortlessly into a battle stance. These things looked nasty, but they weren't an algorithm misfit or a terrifying soul-reaper. This was just Hell's local wildlife. Melody ignited her Obsidian aura slightly. She didn't trigger a full transformation, but she let out just enough dark energy to intimidate them. The beasts hesitated for a fraction of a second... and then they lunged forward, fangs bared and razor-sharp claws out.

Melody: You ready, Goten?! *Melody asked, a sudden rush of playful excitement mixing with her battle adrenaline.*

Goten: *He grinned, his eyes wild and exhilarated. Fighting in the depths of Hell right alongside Melody? Absolutely.* Born ready!

Without another word, Goten blitzed forward. His fist crashed into the first hellhound's jaw with enough devastating force to send it flying clean into a nearby wall of cascading lava. Meanwhile, Melody gracefully flipped completely over two others, her aerial kicks landing with precise, brutal impact.
