Chapter 117 - Ep. 116 - Too Good to be True? The Lonely Catalyst in the Obsidian Arena!

The battle was utterly chaotic—but incredibly fun. Goten and Melody fought like a perfectly synced duo, dismantling the beasts left and right with a flawless combination of explosive punches and swift, devastating kicks.

Molten lava splashed violently into the air as demonic bodies hit the ground, some dissolving instantly into the extreme heat of the underworld. The pack thinned out quickly under their onslaught... but more kept pouring out from the deeper, darker crevices of Hell. They weren't getting into that obsidian tower without a serious fight. The hellhounds were as relentless as a swarm of locusts, driven by a feral hunger. For every single beast the duo struck down, two more leapt out from the smoke to take its place, baring razor-sharp teeth and dripping claws.

Goten exhaled sharply, his brow furrowing as he realized these things just kept coming. He drove a fist straight through the chest of an oncoming monster, only for two more to instantly leap at his exposed back.

Melody: Goten, watch out! *Melody yelled.*

Spinning on her heel, she delivered a fierce extension kick that took a hound's head clean off. Its body collapsed into ash, but three others immediately rushed to fill the void. It was like trying to fight back an endless, rising tide. The obsidian tower was right there, looming just yards away... but they were completely bogged down by this never-ending horde.

Goten and Melody simultaneously realized they were wasting precious energy on mere local wildlife and needed to move immediately. They came to the exact same conclusion: the only way out was to make a synchronized sprint for the threshold, a desperate dash that would surely transition them into the next phase of their quest.

Goten and Melody shared a brief look—a silent, instinctual agreement passing between them.

G&M: Go! *They took off at absolute full speed, weaving through the chaos and effortlessly dodging snapping jaws and slashing claws as they sprinted toward the obsidian structure. The massive pack of hellhounds gave chase, howling in feral frustration, but Goten and Melody were simply too fast. Their Obsidian-enhanced legs ate up the cracked ground in seconds.*

The entrance to the tower was just ahead—blessed freedom from this suffocating swarm of beasts! The exact moment their boots crossed the threshold, the pursuing hellhounds abruptly screeched, skidding to a halt and backing away in sheer panic, as if something deep inside the tower terrified them far more than the intruders ever could.

Suddenly, there was absolute silence. The air in here was surprisingly cool compared to the roaring furnace of Hell outside. The interior of the tower was pristine, featuring polished black marble floors and a massive, sprawling training arena. And right there, sitting perfectly at its center?

A glowing piece of Black Zircon. Could it be? Was it really... that easy?!
