"Greetings to the third star and nobles of the empire." the weapons instructor, Daeros Eldorin said with a bow to the four girls before him.
"Blessed by the spirit of the Earth, I am Daeros Eldorin and I am your weapon's instructor." Daeros said and the four girls clapped politely.
"Since today is the first official class for everyone, I want to see what weapons you picked and your level of control with them." Daeros said to the four girls.
Stepping off from the wide ring he was standing in that was surrounded by four columns with two on each opposite ends of the circle, Daeros called Esmira to begin.
Esmira stepped into the circle with a black bow with blue sapphires running along it in swirls. The bow string was black as well and the core was protected by a defensive barrier.
"A bow suits her." Maria said as she looked at Esmira's blue and black bow with awe.
"Very wind like." Rassera said and Princess Marina turned to stare at her.
Trying not to read into Rassera's statement, Princess Marina cleared her throat and said "She is not wearing a quiver."
"What?!" Rassera and Maria exclaimed together as they turned to Esmira in alarm.
Drawing her bow, an arrow made of the wind appeared and Esmira whispered "Ir" and shot a hole straight into a column.
Whistling in amazement at her display of power, Daeros told her to shoot the remaining columns in the same spot and Esmira did so fluently.
"Now that we have established that you can hit non moving targets flawlessly, would you mind if I step into the ring?" Daeros asked and Esmira nodded.
"Do you know the reason why we use weapons?" Daeros asked Esmira.
"To channel our power." Esmira said and Daeros nodded.
Raising his hands, Daeros whispered "Cultivar" and the plants around the columns sprouted up to cover the hole in the column.
"I will be moving now." Daeros said, before running at Esmira with overwhelming speed.
Jumping back quickly, Esmira released a barrage of arrows in succession but Daeros managed to dodge each one.
Raising his hands, Daeros sprouted a vine and controlled it to wrap around her right ankle.
Trying to free her ankle, Esmira lost focus on Daeros but as soon as he appeared in front of her, Esmira aimed an arrow at his head.
"Good." Daeros said as he clapped.
"You have good instincts and good power but you need small knives or smaller weapons for situations like this." Daeros said referring to the vine around her ankle.
Releasing her ankle, Daeros let Esmira go to her friends.
"That was amazing." Maria yelled as she hugged and lifted Esmira from the ground.
"We haven't been thought how to form weapons yet. Who thought you how to make an arrow?" Rassera asked excitedly.
Blushing sheepishly, Esmira said "I practiced by myself." and everyone squeeled and applauded her.
"It's your turn to come on stage, Rassera Dawnspire." Daeros said and Rassera brightened.
"Wish me luck." Rassera said with a giggle as she stepped into the ring.
Rassera Dawnspire's choice of weapon were a pair of fancy gloves with a blue gem in the middle. The ore was also protected by a defensive barrier and when Rassera rose her hands, the air chilled.
Creating icicles in the air, Rassera said "Avanza" and four icicles launched itself into each columns.
Whistling again Daeros said "I have quite the talented students."
Stepping into the ring Daeros said "I wonder how you, fight." before charging at Rassera.
Raising her hands, Rassera tried the same move again but when Daeros dodged her icicles, Rassera charged at him too.
Throwing her fists, Rassera fought Daeros hand to hand.
"She has good form." Princess Marina praised and Maria giggled.
"The Marchioness is known for close combat after all." Maria said with pride as she watched her friend try to land a blow on Daeros.
As the fight went on, Princess Marina's mind transported her back to the sparring sessions she would have with other wolves. As much as she loved sparing with Gale, fighting with other wolves gave her more battle insight and openings she could exploit and right now, Rassera displayed a lot of those openings.
Getting frustrated that she couldn't land a blow, Rassera released her icicles in close range and Daeros activated his defensive skin immediately.
