Kenneth stood there, watching as inky blood pooled out of its chest, eyes, and ears.
He almost felt bad seeing it in such a miserable state. The way its three eyes couldn't even gloss over. The way you couldn't even see the light dimming from the pupils on account of the way they'd been gouged out. Then he felt the sharp sting coming from his arm and any ounce of remorse he felt left the window.
His attention turned to his teammates, who were panting on the side, chests rising and falling, looking worse for wear. It then moved to the sky.
Still tinged red. And then the obsidian sun.
Still very much black.
He wondered when he would be ejected from the simulation. He also wondered whether or not he'd passed or failed. To fail after he'd come all this way would be…a travesty to say the least. And Kenneth didn't think he'd be able to do all of this over again.
