Xander seemed to read the question written plainly across his face because he chuckled.
"You aren't the first person to ask."
He folded his arms across his chest before leaning lightly against one of the control consoles.
"The easiest way to think about it is that your body never actually leaves this room."
Kenneth glanced around the testing hall.
"The simulation only borrows your mind."
His brows knit together.
"You've probably noticed by now that every cadet has their VITA measured before entering a gate simulation."
Kenneth nodded.
"That isn't just to determine rankings or monitor your performance. Your VITA acts like a bridge between your body and the simulated world. Once you're synchronized with the system, every signal your brain sends and receives is interpreted by the simulation in real time."
He paused, allowing Kenneth a moment to process what he'd said.
