Chapter 52 - Gotham City

Odin and Frigga returned to Asgard with the Asgardian army. When they appeared on the Bifrost, Odin looked toward the army and gave the order.

"You may all rest for a few days. After that, everyone will return to their duties."

Sigurd was waiting near the Rainbow Bridge to receive Odin.

Odin walked toward Sigurd, while Frigga went to Hippolyta. After all, due to the conflict with the angels, she had not yet had a chance to speak with her.

Hela saw her mother approaching and ran toward Frigga.

"Mother, what did you bring back from the war?"

Hearing her words, even Sigurd—who was some distance away—could not help but twitch his face. Then he noticed Odin looking at him.

"Sigurd, you have spoiled Hela beyond reason. Now she is even asking for souvenirs from wars."

Sigurd looked toward Hela, who was being gently reprimanded by Frigga.

"It is fine. She will learn as she grows. Why worry so much about children?"

Odin looked at Sigurd, then thought of the Space Stone.

"Here is the Space Stone."

Sigurd looked at the stone, thinking how this single artifact had given rise to some of Marvel's most notable heroes. Odin watched Sigurd, lost in thought, and did not press further.

Time passed—more than a hundred years. During this time, Sigurd and Hippolyta married. Hela had become a powerful leader of the Asgardian army and was now one of the commanders of the Einherjar.

Although Hela's path differed from the one in the comics, Sigurd still sought a permanent solution for her. The only option that came to mind was the God Quarry, but he knew she was not yet ready, so he set the idea aside.

Sigurd was sitting in Hippolyta's bedroom in Themyscira.

"My world is rather dull in this timeline, but I hope to find something interesting on this trip. Let us hope I find someone who can be strengthened for future help."

He looked at Hippolyta, who was deep in sleep.

"Time to go. It is time to begin the journey—may it lead to an interesting world."

Sigurd kissed Hippolyta's forehead and disappeared from the room.

A portal opened in a dark alley, and a man stepped out. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a gunshot.

Hearing the noise, he cast a spell to avoid detection and walked toward the sound.

When he reached the source, he saw a person in a costume fighting individuals armed with guns.

Looking at the black costume, he was surprised to find a mere mortal inside.

"What kind of world is this? Even mortals fight like this."

Sigurd watched the fight. Though stylish, to him it was unremarkable—yet he noted the mortal's determination.

Then Sigurd moved away from the scene. He changed into modern attire and thought of the money he had brought from Lucifer's world.

"How much did he give me? I should check—the currency shouldn't be different. According to Lucifer, money works the same in every world, so it should be fine."

Walking toward the river, he observed that the island felt thick with malevolent energy.

"Gotham City—it feels like this place is a stronghold for criminals."

His eyes turned toward a large building: "Wayne Enterprises."

Sigurd shook his head and was about to leave the city when a loud noise made him look back.

"What the hell is wrong with this city? Everyone here seems like an idiot." He then scanned the area with his senses.

"Even criminals are escaping from prison. Do they not follow laws, or is this city ruled by criminals?"

Sigurd dispersed his magic and walked toward the source of the disturbance. As he walked, he saw the same bat-costumed mortal fighting several criminals.

"Now I cannot understand how this single person expects to control the situation."

Just as he was moving toward the bat-costumed figure, another person appeared in front of him—this one wearing a different mask.

"Haha, you idiots want to put me in a cell? Let me turn this city into hell!"

Sigurd looked at the person and could only shake his head.

He then punched the individual with a slight force, not even bothering to look at him.

"What an idiot—trying to use drugs on me. These humans really dare to presume."

As Sigurd walked toward the bat-costumed person, he did not realize that someone on a rooftop had seen him punch the masked man.

On the rooftop, a person stood looking through binoculars.

"Damn it, who the hell is this? He just punched Dr. Crane into a wall."

Just as he was about to observe Sigurd more closely, he heard a call on his walkie-talkie.

"Inspector Gordon, an inmate has escaped from Arkham Asylum."

Jim Gordon took the walkie-talkie and spoke.

"They are on 9th Street, below the flyover bridge near the monorail tracks. Send backup quickly."

Then Jim looked toward the direction where Sigurd was walking. He saw Sigurd heading toward the monorail.

"How do I inform Batman? I don't know whether this person is a friend or an enemy."

Sigurd walked to the monorail and entered a car, where he saw the bat-costumed person fighting more criminals.

Just as the fight intensified, they all felt the presence of a third person on the rail.

A man with a sword charged toward Sigurd at high speed. As Sigurd prepared to teach him a lesson, a figure appeared in front of him and punched the swordsman. Then the figure turned to Sigurd, speaking in a deep, low voice.

"You need to leave. This rail is damaged. If you stay any longer, it will be dangerous."

Before Sigurd could respond, the railcar began moving forward.
