On the shattered Bifrost, Kaido rested his spiked club on his shoulder and took slow, deliberate steps toward the half-kneeling Thor. Thor's crimson cape was scorched and torn, his chest armor was heavily caved in, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Yet, he still gripped Mjolnir. His fingers refused to loosen.
Kaido looked down at him, his savage grin growing wider by the second. "Is that all the spine a god has? Get up. Don't bore me."
Thor gasped for air. He couldn't comprehend how this monster treated a brutal battle like a joyous feast. Even more baffling was how this creature could take the full brunt of lightning and Mjolnir, yet only grow more excited with every blow. This wasn't a warrior. This was a walking natural disaster.
Wiping the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand, Thor looked up at Kaido. "You trespass into Asgard. You injure my people. And you expect me to entertain you?"
Mjolnir flew from the distance, slapping perfectly into Thor's waiting palm. Gripping the handle tight, Thor forced himself to his feet. His arms were trembling. But the underestimation that had clouded his eyes earlier was completely gone.
Kaido saw it. And it made his smile even wider. "Yes. Exactly. That's the look. Beating someone who has something to protect—now that's the flavor I'm looking for."
Thor didn't waste any more words. He stopped trying to trade blow for blow with Kaido in the center of the bridge. Letting Mjolnir carry him, he took to the sky, turning into a streak of lightning that moved at blinding speeds around the Bifrost. Kaido glanced up.
"Trying to run?"
In the next second, Thor slammed into him from the flank. Mjolnir crashed heavily into Kaido's shoulder. BOOM! The stone beneath Kaido's feet cracked. A patch of cyan-black scales shattered, and blood poured from the wound. But Thor didn't stop. Using Mjolnir's momentum, he banked sharply around a tall tower and launched a secondary strike aimed squarely at Kaido's knee. Kaido raised his leg to block it head-on. A dull thud echoed in the air, and Kaido's massive frame stumbled slightly.
Seizing the opening, Thor summoned the thunderclouds above. Dozens of lightning bolts cascaded across the spires of the royal city, twisting like chains to bind Kaido in place. The Asgardian guards watched, their spirits surging. This was the Crown Prince of Asgard. Thor wasn't just a reckless street brawler; he was a seasoned commander who had fought in the wars of the Nine Realms. He knew how to utilize the terrain and force his enemy to expose their weaknesses.
With half his body paralyzed by the lightning chains, Kaido was a sitting duck. Thor plummeted from the sky, bringing the entire weight of the thunderstorm down with Mjolnir right onto Kaido's right shoulder. Crack. This time, the bone truly fractured. Kaido's towering frame was driven downward, and a spray of blood erupted from his mouth.
Thor landed and staggered backward, his chest heaving heavily. He locked eyes with Kaido. "Do you see it now?"
Kaido stared down at his ruined shoulder. It was bleeding. The bone was screaming in agony. And that pain only made his laughter boom louder.
"Wororororo! Yes! That's it! Those last few hits were actually decent!"
Thor's expression darkened. He didn't fear strong enemies, but he absolutely despised deranged lunatics who rejoiced in their own mutilation. Kaido rolled his shoulder. The fractured bone began to forcefully knit back together, fueled by his absurd regenerative powers. The thrill of his Saiyan Physique surged through his veins. The humiliation of being beaten to the brink of death by Frieza on Namek had yet to fade from his mind. He wanted to be stronger. Stronger than Frieza. Stronger than that golden-haired monkey.
One day, he was going to show the shop manager that Security Guard No. 007 wasn't just some decorative title. Kaido looked up at the sky over Asgard. The thunderclouds were gathering again. Thor was preparing for another strike. Kaido bared his fangs.
"God of Thunder, let me teach you a little something. The sky doesn't necessarily answer to gods."
His Sky Dragon Rayquaza template fully awakened. The winds shifted. The clouds above Asgard began to violently contort. The lightning Thor had just summoned was caught in the shifting currents, twisting violently out of his control. Mjolnir hummed erratically. Thor felt the resistance. It wasn't his weapon defying him. It was the sky itself.
"The lightning answers the call of Asgard's son!" Thor roared, raising his hammer higher.
The thunder roared in response. But in the next second, Kaido spread his arms, a vortex of cyan-black energy wrapping around him. The lightning Thor had called down suddenly deflected mid-air, blasting into the far side of the Bifrost.
BOOM! Half the width of the bridge was blown to pieces, sending crystalline shrapnel flying into the starlit sea. A dozen Asgardian guards were caught in the shockwave and sent tumbling.
Heimdall crawled from the rubble, gripping Hofund as he shouted, "Fall back! Everyone, clear the Bifrost!"
The guards were reluctant, but it was painfully obvious this battle had escalated far beyond their limits. Kaido watched the scattering soldiers, his blood-stained grin stretching wide.
"What's this? The soldiers of the God Realm know how to turn tail and run?"
Thor's fury erupted at the insult. He lunged at Kaido, lightning surging violently in his eyes. "This is Asgard!"
Kaido gripped his spiked club with both hands. Conqueror's Haki coated the weapon to its absolute limit, black and red lightning thrashing wildly around it. He hoisted the club high above his head.
"Then I'll just beat Asgard to a pulp right along with you!" Kaido stomped down, shattering the bridge as he threw his entire weight toward Thor. "Kosanze Ragnaraku!"
The club descended. Thor didn't dodge. He couldn't. Right behind him was the remaining bridge leading straight to the royal city. Behind that were his father, his mother, and countless Asgardian citizens. Gripping Mjolnir with everything he had, Thor swung upward to meet the crushing blow head-on. Lightning and Conqueror's Haki collided. A terrifying shockwave erupted from the center of the Bifrost.
Thor's boots sank deep into the crystalline floor. The flesh on his arms split open, blood running down his bracers onto the handle of his hammer. Mjolnir wailed in distress. Kaido loomed over him.
"Still not enough!"
The spiked club pressed down harder. Thor roared, refusing to buckle. "I will not let you pass!"
The fanatical light in Kaido's eyes burned brighter. "Then go flying for me!" He poured every ounce of his monstrous strength into his arms. Mjolnir was violently wrenched from Thor's grip, spinning away into the distance to smash a golden pillar to pieces. Thor's defenses were completely wide open. Kaido drove the club directly into his body.
Bang! Thor was launched backward, crashing completely through the far wall of the Bifrost and smashing into the royal plaza. The golden ground cratered immensely. The shockwave scattered the terrified Asgardian civilians. A few guards rushed forward to help Thor, but the residual force radiating from the crater threw them back. Thor lay at the bottom of the pit, his chest armor shattered. He tried to lift his arm. It wouldn't obey. In the distance, Mjolnir vibrated, desperately trying to return to its master.
But Kaido had already crossed the broken bridge. His colossal shadow stepped into the royal city. With every step, the plaza ground fractured in protest.
"Get up, God of Thunder." Kaido hoisted his club, looking down at Thor in the crater. "I'm not done playing."
Thor heard him, but his body was impossibly heavy. He had never been suppressed so completely in his life. Even when fighting the Hulk, it wasn't like this. The Hulk was raw power. This monster was war incarnate. For the first time, a dark thought crept into Thor's mind. If his father didn't intervene, this lunatic was going to tear Asgard to the ground today.
Inside the palace, Queen Frigga stood by the window, gazing at the massive crater in the plaza. As the Queen of Asgard and the mother of Thor and Loki, her face remained calm, but her fingers gripped the windowsill tightly.
"Are you going to kill him?"
Odin stood before the throne, clad in his golden battle armor, grasping the eternal spear, Gungnir. As the King of Asgard, the Guardian of the Nine Realms, and the All-Father, his very name was a deterrent in the legends. He looked out at Kaido. He didn't answer immediately. This intruder was dangerous. But more importantly, this monster was neither a Dark Elf nor a Frost Giant. He wasn't here to conquer. He wasn't here for revenge. He was here purely to fight, searching for these Infinity Stones.
There was someone else behind this. Whoever possessed the power to drop this monster into Asgard was the true threat.
Frigga spoke softly, "Thor has reached his limit."
Odin tightened his grip on Gungnir. "No. He is close."
Frigga looked at him as Odin slowly descended the throne steps. "Thor needs to learn that a throne is not secured by bloodline alone. But this monster also needs to learn... that Asgard still has a King."
Frigga did not argue. She knew Odin well. The moment he took up the eternal spear, it was no longer a father speaking. It was the judgment of the God King.
Out on the plaza, Kaido stood at the edge of the crater. Thor forced himself onto his upper half. Covered in blood, he stared defiantly at Kaido, his voice refusing to break.
"Asgard will not bow to you."
Kaido actually nodded in approval. "Not bad. You're a lot tougher than the weak-kneed trash on the seas. State your name."
Panting heavily, Thor lifted his head. "Thor. Son of Odin. Crown Prince of Asgard."
Kaido grinned. "Kaido of the Beasts. Governor-General of the Beasts Pirates. And... Security Guard No. 007 of the Partys Bar in Foosha Village."
Thor didn't understand that last part. But he could hear the absolute sincerity in the monster's tone. Kaido raised his spiked club.
"Thor, God of Thunder. You're qualified for me to remember your name. So try not to die too pathetically."
The moment the words left his mouth, a golden beam of divine light tore through the air from the direction of the palace. Gungnir had been thrown. No flashy trajectories. No excessive grandstanding. The spear locked onto Kaido's chest, carrying the unyielding will of the God King across the plaza. Kaido barely had time to look up. The golden light was already upon him. His Observation Haki screamed in warning, but his body couldn't evade it entirely.
BOOM! Gungnir slammed into Kaido's chest. His cyan-black scales exploded outward. The impenetrable defense of his Demon Dragon Body was torn apart by divine power. Kaido's massive frame was launched backward as if crucified, shattering the stone walls at the edge of the plaza and flying all the way back toward the Bifrost. His body carved a brutal trench through the broken bridge until he tumbled completely off the edge, plummeting into the starlit sea below.
A heavy silence fell over the plaza. Thor lay at the bottom of the crater, staring toward the palace. Odin stood at the edge of the grand steps, his single eye fixed on the abyss where Kaido had fallen. His voice reverberated throughout the royal city.
"Intruder. Your opponent is now me."
