Kaido plummeted from the Bifrost. The starlit sea churned beneath his back. Debris from the broken bridge rained down around him. A massive, bloody hole had been blown through his chest. The divine power from Gungnir, the Spear of Odin, lingered within the wound like a nail wedged brutally between his ribs and organs.
Reaching out, Kaido grabbed the jagged edge of the Bifrost. His five fingers dug ruthlessly into the crystalline structure. Crack. He tore five deep fissures into the bridge.
"Wororororo..." A dark, gravelly laugh echoed from beneath the bridge. Lying in the crater, Thor heard the laughter, and his expression darkened. The monster wasn't dead.
Using just one arm, Kaido hauled himself back onto the broken bridge. Blood poured steadily down his chest. A massive patch of his cyan-black scales had been burned away by the divine strike. Yet, there was not a trace of fear on his face. Only pure, unadulterated battle lust.
"Odin?" Kaido stared dead ahead at the palace steps. "So, you're the king of this place?"
Odin did not answer. He stood at the pinnacle of the grand staircase, his golden battle armor gleaming as he caught the returning eternal spear in his hand. Odin, King of Asgard, Guardian of the Nine Realms, All-Father. In this universe, he was no ordinary monarch. In his youth, he had waged war across the Nine Realms, crushed the Frost Giants, sealed away the Dark Elves, and personally forged Asgard's supremacy. There were no bounty posters in the world of One Piece for him, but if Morgans ever dared to appraise him, the number would dwarf any of the Four Emperors.
Kaido didn't need an introduction. A true powerhouse simply needed to stand there, and that was enough. His body already knew the truth. This old man was stronger than Thor. Vastly stronger. The wound on Kaido's chest began to wriggle and contract. The terrifying regenerative abilities of his Demon Dragon Body were working in overdrive. His Saiyan Physique was thoroughly triggered by the agony. The primal urge to grow stronger after being pushed to the brink of death made his blood boil.
"Good. Finally, a monster worth fighting!"
Kaido's legs exploded with force. A chunk of the Bifrost caved in entirely as his colossal frame shot like a missile toward the royal plaza. Odin raised Gungnir. No charging. No roaring. He simply pointed the spearhead coldly at Kaido. A brilliant, golden divine light ignited along the shaft.
Kaido's Observation Haki screamed in alarm. Lethal danger. But he didn't dodge. "Thunder Bagua!" His spiked club was wrapped in Conqueror's Haki to its absolute limit, crackling wildly with black and red lightning. Gungnir struck out. The tip of the spear and the head of the club collided with cataclysmic force.
BOOM! A layer of the royal plaza was violently ripped away. The debris around Thor was swept up by a hurricane-force gale. Several guards who had rushed out to help him were blown right back behind the colonnades. Kaido's arm muscles bulged grotesquely, pushing his club against the eternal spear with everything he had. The ground beneath his feet splintered inch by inch. Yet, Odin's arm didn't move a single millimeter. His solitary eye stared coldly at Kaido.
"Outsider. You possess the blood of a dragon, a curse, a beast, and a warrior lineage that does not belong to this universe. Who sent you here?"
Kaido bared his fearsome fangs. "The shop manager."
Odin's gaze flickered. "The shop manager?"
Kaido threw his head back and roared with laughter. "The manager of the Partys Bar in Foosha Village, Blake! I'm the security guard there. Employee No. 007!"
Down in the crater, Thor was absolutely stunned. The monster that had beaten him half to death was proudly declaring himself a security guard? Odin, however, wasn't laughing. He caught the core truth. Someone possessed the power to drop this beast into Asgard. And more terrifyingly, that someone had made this prideful dragon submit willingly. Whoever that was, they were a far greater threat than the mad beast in front of him.
Kaido didn't care what Odin was thinking. He only wanted to slaughter. "Old man! Don't look away!"
Kaido's body expanded horrifically. His cyan-black scales grew impossibly thick. Glowing, magma-like fissures spider-webbed across his back. His Demon Dragon Form fully unleashed. This was the pinnacle physique he had acquired after conquering the Pokémon world championship. It was the ultimate trump card he had forged after realizing the gap in his strength when Blake hung him outside the tavern to dry.
Kaido unhinged his massive jaws. Dark red flames condensed furiously in his throat. "Flaming Drum Dragon!" A gargantuan dragon head made of fire roared as it moved to devour Odin. The intense heat instantly baked the plaza floor until it cracked. The golden reliefs on the outer walls of the palace began to melt and drip.
Standing in the rear corridor, Frigga immediately raised her hands, deploying a massive magical barrier to protect the fleeing civilians. Thor struggled to his feet. He refused to let his father stand alone. But the agonizing tearing in his chest forced him back down into the dirt. For the first time, he clearly saw the chasm of despair between their strengths. There was a gap between him and Kaido. But the gap between Kaido and Odin was the distance between heaven and earth.
Odin raised Gungnir. Golden divine power rolled outward like a tidal wave. The fire dragon crashed violently into the divine barrier, forcibly compressed into a churning sea of flames. Odin took one step forward. The sea of fire instantly parted. A second step. The flames Kaido expelled began to falter and roll backward. A third step. Gungnir pierced through the layers of fire, striking with flawless precision right into Kaido's open chest wound.
Bang! Kaido's sternum violently caved in. His colossal body was blasted backward like a ragged doll, smashing straight through a towering golden statue in the center of the plaza. Half of the statue crumbled, taking the grand stairs of the palace down with it. The Asgardian guards watched the devastation, but no one dared to cheer. They knew in their hearts this wasn't a glorious victory. This was their God King personally shielding them from a disaster.
Kaido laboriously dragged himself out of the rubble. He spat out a mouthful of blood, chunks of pale bone mixed within. "Wororororo..." The laughter was lower, hoarser, yet more unhinged than ever. "Exhilarating. A bit lacking compared to that little runt Frieza... but exhilarating all the same!"
His legs bent sharply. Conqueror's Haki exploded from his body like a physical shockwave. Guards dropped unconscious in droves, eyes rolling into the backs of their heads. Even Thor felt as if a sledgehammer had slammed into his skull. Kaido raised his broken club high above his head. The Sky Dragon Rayquaza template was pushed to its absolute breaking point. The clouds above Asgard were violently torn into a terrifying vortex. Lightning, storms, and fire frantically gathered around him. He wasn't borrowing Thor's lightning. He was forcefully pillaging the authority of the sky itself.
Odin looked up at the heavens. "Attempting to steal the authority of the skies of the God Realm. Your arrogance knows no bounds."
Kaido's eyes were blood-red. "Who owns the sky isn't decided by words. It's decided by fists!"
He erupted from the ruins. His club came crashing down, carrying a catastrophic storm of destruction. "Kosanze Ragnaraku!"
For the first time, Odin gripped the eternal spear with both hands. Dense, blindingly bright runic inscriptions materialized along the shaft of Gungnir. The power of the God King erupted in full. It wasn't lightning. It wasn't fire. It was an ancient, absolute authority. Kingship. Judgment. The supreme will that protected the Nine Realms. The spear struck the spiked club. There was no stalemate.
Kaido's berserk Haki was instantly pierced. The spiked club cracked down the middle. Fissures spider-webbed across the weapon, and in the next heartbeat, the entire club violently exploded into a cloud of shrapnel. Kaido's pupils shrank to pinpricks. But Gungnir did not stop. The tip of the spear slammed directly into his shoulder. Squelch! His right shoulder was instantly impaled.
Kaido gritted his teeth and tried to counterattack with his left fist. Odin drove his knee viciously into Kaido's stomach. Kaido doubled over in agony, a fountain of blood erupting from his mouth. Twisting the spear, Odin launched Kaido into the air before slamming him brutally back into the ground. BOOM! Half the plaza utterly collapsed. The thick stone layers of the subterranean catacombs were breached. Kaido crashed heavily into the bottom of the deep pit.
Odin stood at the edge of the crater, pointing the spear downward coldly. "You did not come to conquer. Nor did you come for vengeance. Therefore, I will not kill you."
Kaido clawed at the stone, desperately trying to pull himself up. His arms were shaking violently. He absolutely loathed this feeling. His body could still move. His heart was still screaming for battle. But the spear pressed firmly over his head held him down with the weight of a mountain. It was an indignity ten thousand times worse than death!
"I..." Kaido snapped his head up, his eyes practically splitting at the seams. "I... haven't lost yet!"
The Saiyan Physique within him was pushed past the absolute brink. Berserk ki raged through his body. His Haki boiled uncontrollably. His Demon Dragon Body defied logic to rapidly knit his flesh together. Fighting against the mountain-crushing pressure of Gungnir, Kaido managed to force his knees an inch off the ground.
Thor watched the scene unfold, a heavy weight sinking in his chest. This monster truly refused to kneel, even if it meant death. It wasn't just empty bravado. The very concept of surrender simply didn't exist in his bones. For the first time, a flicker of genuine respect appeared in Odin's solitary eye. But respect did not mean indulgence.
"Enough." Gungnir pushed down sharply.
A vast ocean of golden divine power surged violently into Kaido's body. The frame he had just managed to lift was ruthlessly crushed back into the earth. His knees smashed into the stone floor. BOOM! The bottom of the crater caved in once more. Kaido was forced onto his knees in the rubble. His hands clawed desperately at the ground. Blood streamed continuously from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. A low, beast-like roar of utter despair tore from his throat. It was absolutely not a plea for mercy. It was the pure, unadulterated hatred of his own weakness!
In the tavern, Blake sat quietly behind the bar, a glowing screen floating before him. Makino stood nearby holding a glass, her fingers pausing slightly as she watched Kaido bleeding out on his knees.
"Will that Kaido... really be beaten this badly?"
Blake casually took a sip of his coffee. "When Odin was in his prime, Asgard wasn't exactly a tourist destination. The fact that Kaido has lasted this long means he's already stronger than the vast majority of people in this universe."
Kaido couldn't hear Blake. He could only hear the majestic voice of Odin. "Outsider. Go back and tell this man named Blake... Asgard does not welcome intruders."
Kaido painfully raised his blood-drenched face. "Are you even worthy?"
Odin's spear paused for a fraction of a second. Thor was utterly speechless. Even hanging by a thread, this lunatic was still fiercely defending his post as a security guard. The guy was insane. But it was undeniably a level of grit that left one at a loss for words.
Odin asked no more. He swiftly withdrew Gungnir. The crushing pressure vanished, yet Kaido remained planted, refusing to collapse. He stayed on his knees, gasping violently for air. Odin turned his back coldly.
"Throw him into the deepest dungeon."
Heimdall jogged over from the distance, blood still staining his face. "Yes, Your Majesty."
But just as a few Asgardian guards cautiously approached Kaido, a terrifying, unnatural cracking sound echoed from deep underground. It wasn't the sound of the plaza collapsing. It was deeper. Farther away. It sounded like some horrific entity, buried alive for countless eons, had finally managed to crack open a seam in its prison.
Odin froze dead in his tracks. Frigga's face drained of all color. Thor snapped his head up in shock. Down in the crater, from the very spot where Kaido had been pinned to the floor by Gungnir, a chilling, black-green glow began to eerily seep through the fissures. The light reeked of absolute, unadulterated death.
Odin tightened his grip on his eternal spear. For the first time, true, unbridled fury ignited in his eye. "Kaido. You have broken a seal that should never have been touched."
From the deepest depths of the fissure, a woman's cold, hysterical laughter drifted up. "Father. After all these years... you finally decided to open the door?"
