Chapter 4 - "The day of - Noche de élite" part - 1

Early in the morning, Gabriel gathered everyone in the living room.

Gabriel Guevara: Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to my girlfriend.

Everyone began to clap.

Lady: That wasn't necessary, Mom and Dad.

Rafaella: It's okay, dear.

Gabriel Guevara: This is...

William: Son, you never told us anything about having a girlfriend.

Gabriel: That's exactly why I called everyone here today. Please, just let me finish speaking.

William and Rafaella: Alright, go ahead.

Gabriel: So, my girlfriend's name is—

Luca: Wait, bro! One second—I just need to use the restroom. Sorry, everyone!

Gabriel Guevara: Huh... fine. As I was saying—

Lady: My name is Meridia.

Gabriel froze. In his book, the name written was Luna, not Meridia.

Looking straight at her, Gabriel Guevara said quietly,

She's from Scotland. She came here for some work, but now she's decided to stay.

After saying that, he turned and walked to his room.

Meridia followed him.

Gabriel: Who are you really? Tell me the truth. Why did you come here? Did Briar send you?

Meridia: Who's Briar? I don't know anyone by that name. I'm Meridia... I lost my memory in a car accident. The only thing I remember is my name.

Gabriel Guevara: Alright then.

Just then, William's voice echoed from downstairs, calling everyone again.

Maid: Sir Gabriel, Ma'am Meridia — Sir William is calling both of you downstairs.

Gabriel and Meridia came down together.

Gabriel: Yes, Dad?

William: Mr. Michael called earlier. He's hosting an event, and we've all been invited.

Meridia: What kind of event is it?

William: It's for "Noche de élite "--( elite night). They're close family friends, almost like our own. It's important that we all attend.

Rafaella: Oh, I'm so excited already!

Rafaella took Meridia's hand and led her out for shopping.

Rafaella: Show me the best dresses you have for my daughter.

Seller: How about this one, ma'am?

Rafaella: Hmm, this isn't good enough for my girl. Show me something more glamorous!

Seller: Alright then, please take a look at this one.

Rafaella: I'll pay whatever it costs — just show me something truly stunning. She's not an ordinary person, you know.

One of the sellers glanced at the other and whispered softly, "Like mother, like son."

Rafaella: What did you just say?

Meridia: Mom, please, let's just go home. I already have plenty of dresses. I really love the gown Dad gave me.

Rafaella: Alright, since you insist so much… fine.

The two smiled and headed back home together.
