She paused, her eyes blinking once. Her polite smile stayed locked on her face. "Pardon?"
"The act," I said, stepping away from the doorframe and walking over to stand near the railing, a few feet away from her. "You can drop it. We're outside. Nobody's watching."
Yuna kept her sweet expression intact for a second, her brow furrowing slightly. "I'm not sure what you mean, Nicholas. I was just asking—"
"I'm very good at reading people," I cut in smoothly, resting my forearms against the cool wooden railing.
"It's my job, and it's my hobby. You don't give a damn about my surgical team, and you don't care about my love life. You're just doing what your father asked you to do."
For two long seconds, the silence stretched between us on the cold veranda.
Then, right in front of my eyes, the delicate, sweet lawyer persona melted away.
Yuna's shoulders relaxed, dropping an inch.
