Yuna tilted her head, looking at me thoughtfully.
"It wasn't some grand, dramatic awakening. In university, there was this girl in my law seminars. She was brilliant. Absurdly smart. Every single test, every assignment, she beat me by two or three points. I hated her for it."
She smiled softly at the memory. "I decided to get close to her, figure out her strategy, beat her at her own game. But the more time I spent around her, the more I stopped focusing on her grades and started focusing on her mouth. Turns out, she was a lesbian, she knew exactly what I was doing, and she kissed me in the library one night. The rest was history."
She shrugged, blowing out a stream of grey smoke.
"We slept together for a year. It was great. But growing up in a conservative Korean home, I knew my dad would never accept it. So when graduation came, I ended it. I like guys too, so it was easier to just slide back into the lane my parents expected."
