A few days go by and I'm sitting in the patrol car just waiting for something to happen at this point. after the captains murder I've been on edge just wondering when the next one is going to happen or if I'm one of the next targets, I've been sleeping with my gun ever since, bolted all the windows shut, a alarm system was also put inside Krystal's house, I'm not taking any chances. I've never been this paranoid and stressed out in my life I just want everything to be over and done with and this fucker either dead or put behind bars. I'm still just sitting here when I randomly get a text from Elena
"Ant!"
"What do you want?"
"I need help"
"What not getting enough attention from mark?"
"I'm serious right now I think someone's trying to break in"
"I'm not here to fulfill a fantasy for you?"
"Shut up and listen! I'm being serious I seen a guy walking around the house and I thinks he's looking for a way in"
"Tell mark to do something"
"He's not here, he's with his team on a bonding thing"

"This ain't time for jokes I really need help"

"I'm hiding under my bed"

She sends a picture of herself crying underneath the bed, ok I think this might be real
"Let me tell dispatch"

I get on the radio
"Unit 33 to dispatch"
"Go for dispatch"
"Elena is texting me and it sounds like she has something going on and needs help, I'm going to go conduct a welfare check on her"
"Copy keep us posted"
I head over to Elena's a few minutes later and walk up to the door and knock. There's no answer so I decide to text her
"I'm here, this better be real"
"Ok I'm coming down to open the door"
A few minutes later Elena opens the door completely naked
"What the fuck!!"
"Heyyy"
"Are you fucking serious?!?"
"I had to get you over here somehow"
"Elena this is too far, the other times are innocent flirting but this is fucked up. I generally thought you were in trouble"
"Yeah imma pretty good actor huh? Now get in her and let's do a quickie"
"I should kick you in the chest right now"
"Come on, take your anger out on me"
"How bout I have Krystal do it instead"
"Oh my god!"
I walk back to my patrol car and drive off, I'm so pissed off I completely forget to tell dispatch what happened, but she would get in trouble if I did so I guess I'll let it slide. An hour goes by and I get a phone call from Elena
"What do you want now?"
On the other side is nothing, just breathing
"Hello?"
Still nothing
"I don't want to hear your heavy ass breathing"
Then a different voice comes up, a deep voice
"Don't be a hero Sanchez…"
"Who's this?"
The call is ended
"What the fuck…"
I speed over to Elena's and I see the front door wide open and multiple windows busted in
"Officer Sanchez in need of backup at Elena's, possible home invasion"
"Copy back up in route"
I run inside and call out for Elena
"Elena!!"
There's no answer
I check every room and can't find her anywhere, pictures of her and mark are broken. I head down to Mark's room and open the door. Elena is laid out on the floor completely naked, her body badly bruised and beaten, her throat slashed, an hourglass carved into both breasts.
On the wall next to a blown up picture of Elena and Mark is another blood sign that I recognize right away
"End of Heartache"
"Fuck man… Officer Sanchez to dispatch…"
Soon more cops arrive and the investigation is underway, as the investigation is on going mark pulls up and walks up to me
"Sanchez…. What's going on?"
"I'm sorry mark…. Elena's gone"
"What? How?"
"She was murdered"
He doesn't show a slight sign of sadness or even anger
"Oh…."
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm just in shock, I don't know what to do?"
"Do you need anything?"
"No im fine I just want to be alone"
"Alright then"
I know people grieve differently but that was just weird, almost cold blooded. I would say he's a suspect but he has an alibi from Elena herself, that voice is going to be hard to identify also because I know that he was using a voice changer. When I head back to the station they tell me the new captain wants to see me. I head into the office and it's a middle aged female officer.
"Are you Sanchez?"
"Yes ma'am"
"I'm captain Lopez, going forward I'm the new captain here"
"Congratulations ma'am.."
"Thank you… now I wanted to talk to you about all these murders going on."
"Ok"
"Do you have any idea who you think it could be?"
"I honestly have no idea… also I'm not an investigator"
"Hmmm because from what I heard you were pretty close to this recent one"
"Elena was just an acquaintance"
"Just an acquaintance… or was there some secret relationship between both of you?"
"Ma'am Im happily in a relationship, Elena was nothing more than a coworker to me"
She stares at me for a moment
"Hmmm alright… but I got my eye on you. You're free to go"
I nod and just walk out. How the fuck am I getting caught up in this, I didn't even like this girl now they're gonna think im a suspect because she "seemed close to me". I swear once this guy is caught I'm transferring fuck this place, I'm over it.
