The next day I get up early and get my outfit ready for this interview, just a normal button up with some black jeans. it's hard to get decent interview clothes on short notice as a broke college student but this should be alright it's just a security job. I get an email with some instructions for the interview.
"Good morning Jay, when you arrive for your interview please head to the main office, you will be interviewed by the owner Mr. Hill. The address is listed below."
"Alright sounds pretty simple"
I finished getting dressed and then head out to the address given to me. I arrive at the address, it's a rural area surrounded by mountains and trees, kinda fits the bill to place a Halloween event. The place is still being set up by workers but I can see some haunted mazes already set up as well as some rides, it looks pretty cool and I would definitely love to work here. I head over to the main office which is those portable offices off to the side, I head in and see a older lady sitting at her desk going over some type of paperwork, I walk up to her and make myself known
"Ummm excuse me?"
"Yes can I help you?"
"Sorry for the interruption but I'm here for the interview at eleven with Mr. Hill"
"Oh right, you must be Jay"
"Yes that's me"
"Come with me"
She leads me to another room where a middle aged man is sitting at his desk on his phone, he's got grey hair, a long beard, for him being the owner he doesn't dress professionally as he's in a shirt with cut off sleeves showing off his tattoos, he kinda looks like a biker gang member.
"Mr hill, your 11am interview is here"
"Awww ok, thanks Brenda"
The older lady walks out, leaving me with Mr Hill.
"So you're Jay?"
"Yes sir"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mr. Hill but you can call me Sonny"
He reaches out his hand and I shake it
"Have a seat"
I sit down on the chair across from his desk and he pulls out my application, looking over it.
"Hmmm so you go to OSU"
"Yes sir, I'm heading into my last year"
"Nice, so I assume you're looking for a job to make some money"
"Uhhh…"
Hill starts laughing
"Don't worry kid, I completely understand."
"Yeah I'm just tired of asking my parents to send me money"
"Yeah I feel you. Hmm says right here you received some awards for athletics in high school?"
"Yes sir"
"I can see it you're a pretty big guy, but you put you're on a academic scholarship"
"Yeah I had to medically retire my senior year of high school"
"Oh that sucks, well at least you're falling back on something. What's your major?"
"Sports medicine"
"That's cool…. well here's the deal you seem like a good kid, imma go ahead and offer you the job"
"Thank you sir I appreciate it"
"Now we aren't opening until the last weekend of August so you have a couple weeks until then. We open Friday to Sunday, 5pm to 11pm, but your shift will be 4 to 12."
"That's fine with me"
"Alright, jobs pretty easy. You'll pretty much be in your shack the whole time but you can walk around if you want. Make sure nobody gets out of line and keep the peace., simple shit"
"Alright sounds good, what about the uniform?"
Hill goes to a closet and pulls out some stuff
"So you'll just wear this black shirt that says security, I'll also give you this hat and a sweater for when it starts cooling down. Wear some black pants and wear whatever shoes feel comfortable to you"
"Alright sounds good to me"
"Any other questions?"
"Hmmm yeah, so how much is the pay, if you don't mind me asking"
"Not at all, I'll pay you twenty dollars an hour"
"Really? That's way above minimum wage for Oklahoma"
"I like paying my workers well, any other questions?"
"No that's it, thank you sir I can't wait to start"
"I can't wait either, we're going to have some fun this Halloween season"
"Looking forward to it"
I walk out and head back to campus, I walk into the dorm and Andy is waiting for me, he hops up when I walk in
"You get it?!?"
"You already know"
"Yeah!! So when does it start imma have to go"
"The last weekend of August, it's only open on the weekends"
"I'll definitely have to hit that up on our bye week, but I'm happy for you bro"
"Thanks man, I'm lowkey excited"
Now all that's left to do is wait for the first day, I'm excited to get started and see how this place looks.
