The next day I wake up early and head straight for the park, I can't delay it or I'll end up not telling him at all. Once I get to the park I head straight to the office where Mr.Hill should be, I head inside and his assistant wasn't there so I just went straight for his office where he's sitting doing some work on his computer. He looks up, noticing me he smiles
"Jay!!! What are you doing here?"
"Ummm can I talk to you about something?"
"Sure… what happened to your eye?"
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about"
Mr.Hill sits up straight and looks at me with a serious face
"What happened?"
"Cherry…"
"Cherry???"
"She had me kidnapped and brought to her RV. Tied me up, put duct tape on my mouth when I was unconscious. When I woke up she did this to my eye then made me watch her… lets just say pleasure herself, with the knife"
Mr.Hill just stares at me with a straight face
"Well…"
"Jay… that's horrifying"
"You're telling me. I was scared to even approach you and tell because she said she would kill me"
"Well I'm glad you told me, this is not something I take lightly"
"I'm glad to hear you say that, it was traumatic"
"I'm sure it was"
Just then I hear a gun get cocked and feel it against the back of my head. Mr. Hill starts smiling with an evil grin then gives a chuckle
"Cherry now why did you have to go and do that?"
Then I hear Cherrys voice from behind me
"I was bored and I just wanted to break the new guy in, i told him to keep his mouth shut but I guess he doesn't listen to well. I guess it's time to look for another guy Sonny"
Shaking, I close me eyes prepared for what's about to happen and then I hear Hill speak up
"No… leave him alone"
I open my eyes and feel a relief fall over me but still scared of what's going to happen, then Cherry speaks up
"What?!?!"
"Put the gun down"
I feel the gun leave the back of my head and hear Cherry stomp the ground, like a little kid, upset that she couldn't kill me
"Not fair!!"
"Cherry please, I'm not about to lose another guard over some bullshit"
When I hear that I yell out
"Another guard?!? So you guys just kill guards"
"Jay you have to understand…"
"Understand what?!?! What the fuck is going on around here?"
"None of your business Jay, just stay quiet. Finish the season out. Collect your checks. And move on with your life. I'm giving you a chance to live since you're just a kid still"
"Your fucking clown almost killed me and fucked up my face, I deserve an explanation!!"
Hill looks at me and then gives a smirk
"Fine… I started this thing almost a decade ago. Started out back in Virginia, real small, I needed workers so I started hiring some real life scary types. Ex felons, criminals on the run, murderers. I wanted to fly under the radar so I changed a lot of their identities, made them seem like normal individuals. Cherry here is one of the most violent psychopaths I've ever met…"
Cherry interrupts
"Awww stop it"
"She escaped a mental institution after she was locked up for killing a few people among other things. I found her and made sure she was taken care of"
I then speak up
"Well aren't you a fucking saint"
"Watch it Jay… anyways before you rudely interrupted me I started this up, we gained popularity every year. Unfortunately every year we deal with people like that drunk you encountered last week. So we take matters into our own hands, we make them disappear. When it starts getting too hot and people start questioning the disappearances we up and move. From Virginia we went to Alabama to get some distance, spent a couple years there and now we're here. Along the line security guards have found out too much and we had to put an end to that, but since you seem like a nice kid I'm going to make you a deal. You keep your fucking mouth shut from now until the very last night, I will bump your pay up to thirty dollars an hour and it will increase every year until it's time for us to move again and just to sweeten the deal, anything you ask for I'll make happen."
"And if I say no?"
"Then I have cherry here finish what she started"
Cherry then excitedly screams
"Yay!!!! Please say no!!"
"So Jay what's it going to be?"
I take a minute and then I give my answer
"I guess I don't have much of a choice do I… deal"
Hill claps his hands together and shouts
"Fuck yeah! I knew I could count on you"
I feel a slap on the back of my head and hear Cherry
"You better not fuck up again"
Then Hill speaks up
"Cherry leave the kid alone, he's the first guard to actually take the deal, he's got some balls"
"Yeah whatever"
I hear her walk out and Hill looks at me
"Don't worry about her, she'll warm up to you"
"Fuck her, she's lucky I don't kill her myself"
Hill laughs
"Man I'm starting to like you more and more, but on a serious note just play along and everything will go smoothly"
"Yeah alright, I'm leaving"
"See you Friday Jay!"
I don't even turn back around and just head out the door, I see Cherry standing outside and she gives me a look and I say something
"What?!?"
"Nothing…"
"Fuck you"
"I know you want to"
"I don't have time for your bullshit"
I walk past her and just jump in my car and head back to campus. So much for that, I guess I'm stuck here for season, I don't know how I'm going to make through a whole two more months of this bullshit.
