Chapter 7 - Death Strom: The Red Lighting

Death Strom — Chapter 7: The Red Lightning Bond

The sun rose over the training valley, slicing through the morning fog like a blade of gold.

Birds scattered as the sound of fire and thunder roared across the mountains.

Two figures moved within the dust — Usuki, his body wrapped in red flame, and Freak, streaks of crimson lightning flashing from his fingertips.

Their movements clashed and danced, creating shockwaves that split the ground beneath them.

Kanshiki stood on a rocky ridge, arms crossed, cloak fluttering. His eyes followed every motion.

"Good," he muttered. "The more they fight, the more their elements will synchronize."

Usuki ducked under Freak's spinning kick, flames bursting from his heels to propel him backward.

Freak smirked. "You're finally learning to move like a real ninja, flame-boy."

Usuki: "You talk too much for someone who keeps missing."

Freak's grin widened, red lightning coiling around his arm.

"Then I'll stop missing."

The next instant, he was gone — lightning-fast — appearing above Usuki mid-air, his palm glowing.

"Red Thunder Strike!"

Usuki threw his arms up, fire surging instinctively.

BOOM!

The ground shattered, flames and lightning exploding in a storm of color.

For a moment, the world was light and chaos — until both hit the dirt, panting, smoke curling from their clothes.

Kanshiki leaped down between them, his aura crackling with quiet authority.

"Enough. You both did well."

Usuki sat up, coughing. "That... wasn't training, Sensei. That was war."

Kanshiki: "If you can survive Freak's speed, you'll survive real combat. Remember — the world beyond this mountain doesn't forgive weakness."

Freak collapsed beside Usuki, grinning despite the pain.

"Heh. You're not bad, Usuki. Maybe I won't hate you after all."

Usuki looked at him with mock seriousness.

"Thanks. That means a lot... coming from someone who almost fried me."

They both laughed, lying under the open sky — two rivals born from fire and thunder.

But Kanshiki didn't smile. His eyes were fixed on the horizon, on a faint, distant red mist swirling across the valley.

The Elemental Flow is shifting, he thought grimly.

And his flame… it's reacting.

That night, Usuki sat by the fire, staring into the crackling flames.

They shimmered with strange colors — red, gold… and deep violet.

He frowned. "Why do you keep changing colors…?"

The flame twisted, almost like it was breathing.

Then — faintly — a whisper echoed within it:

"Burn… deeper…"

Usuki jolted, heart pounding.

He looked around — but no one was there. Just the forest and the sound of his own breathing.

Kanshiki appeared behind him, silent as ever.

"Did you hear something?"

Usuki hesitated. "…Just the wind."

Kanshiki watched him for a moment longer, eyes narrowing.

"Be careful, Usuki. The Ishuko fire is alive. Once it accepts you, it will obey. But if it doesn't…"

His gaze darkened.

"It will consume you instead."

The wind blew — and in the flicker of the campfire, for just an instant — the flames formed a face.

Something ancient. Watching.
