POV: Third Person
Inside the MUFG Bank building, Takeshi Fujimoto was in his office when he suddenly received a call. It was from someone who had never called him before, but whose contact he had saved.
Kyo Evans—the son of a man named Robert Evans.
Robert Evans was an important client of the bank. Takeshi had Kyo's contact saved because Robert had made it clear that Kyo also had full control over the account, even though he was a minor.
He had said that the money frequently deposited into that account came from Kyo's own work, despite his young age. Takeshi had concluded that Kyo was some kind of celebrity—which turned out to be true.
He had seen Kyo's photos circulating online.
But aside from that, he had never bothered to investigate Kyo's life further.
"Why is he calling me?"
It was always Kyo's father, Robert, who contacted Takeshi, so he was quite surprised.
"Hello?"
"Sorry for calling so suddenly."
"Mr. Kyo? How can I help you?"
"I need to buy something very expensive, and I want your help with it. But you can't tell my father about this."
"That is…"
Takeshi didn't know what to say. Even though Robert had made it clear that he should provide money or assistance to his son, Kyo was still very young. And young people are often reckless. Maybe Kyo was being scammed or something.
"How much do you need?" Takeshi asked.
"16 million."
"16 million!?" Takeshi jumped out of his chair in shock. "Excuse me for asking, Mr. Kyo, but why do you need that much money?"
"I want to buy a car."
"A car?"
"Yes, a car for my father—it's a gift. That's why I want you to handle the transaction without informing him. I'm giving you permission. You know I have the authority to do that."
Even though Robert had said Kyo had full control over the money, Takeshi was hesitant.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Kyo, but…"
"Please do this for me. You can contact the seller and speak with him directly. I'm with my driver—he'll help me with the purchase."
"But why such an expensive gift?" Takeshi asked.
"Does that matter? Just help me with this. I can give you a bonus afterward."
Takeshi listened and let out a sigh.
'Should I really do this?'
He thought about his superiors. But after some consideration, he concluded it would be fine.
Even though Robert and Kyo were important clients, they were far from being on the bank's "priority list."
So Takeshi said,
"Alright. Send me the seller's contact information—I'll handle the purchase."
"Thank you very much, Mr. Takeshi. I knew I could count on you."
The call ended shortly after.
Takeshi received a message with a contact number and called it.
After speaking with the man on the other end, they decided which car Kyo would buy. And then, Takeshi realized that buying a brand-new car was very different from what he had imagined.
He would need to prove there was a parking space available to purchase the car—something called a "Shako Shomeisho"—and it would take a few days for the car to be registered under someone's name.
In other words, Daiki wouldn't need to lend his name.
The dealership would handle all the registration, licensing, and insurance, while Daiki would take care of the parking certificate for Kyo.
Then, after the process was complete, the dealership gave an estimated delivery time of eight days for the car to be ready and registered under Kyo's father's name.
'I wanted to show up at home with the car, but I'll have to bring my father here. Well, it'll still be a surprise.'

POV: Kyo
After we finished taking care of everything, I got back into the car with Daiki and said, "Thanks for bringing me here. Want to grab something to eat with me?"
"Something to eat?"
"Yeah, at a café."
One thing I really enjoy is sitting in a café, eating something while thinking about my current life—and what I should do next.
When we got to the café, I ordered an iced coffee for myself, and Daiki ordered a black coffee. I also got a slice of chocolate cake. While we were having coffee, Daiki asked:
"What do you think your parents will say when they find out about the car you bought?"
Hearing that, I answered immediately:
"They'll definitely be mad at me. They don't want me spending a lot of money on them. They don't like that idea." I laughed.
"I can understand them," Daiki said with a smile.
"Well, I have more than enough money to do this. Buying that car won't affect my finances at all."
As soon as I finished speaking, I received a notification on my phone.
[Where are you!?]
It was a message from my mother.
[Your father is panicking! He said someone stole 16 million yen from your account!]
She started sending multiple messages and then called me.
"What happened?" Daiki asked. "Is it urgent?"
"I guess talking to the account manager didn't help. My father saw that the money was withdrawn."
"Of course he noticed," Daiki laughed. "Good luck explaining that."
"Well, I'll just tell the truth."
I shrugged and didn't answer my mother's call. Instead, I sent a message:
[It was me. When I get home, we'll talk about it.]
After that, I ignored all her messages and calls.
It's fine to be a little rebellious sometimes, right?
We finished eating and left the café. But as soon as we stepped outside, I noticed someone staring at me.
It was a woman across the street. She was looking directly at me, then started walking toward us, crossing the road.
Daiki noticed and said, "Stay behind me."
Then he raised his voice. "Who are you? What do you want?"
Was she the one who had been watching me earlier?
But despite seeming a bit strange, she looked like… an ordinary woman?
"Excuse me. I'm a fan. Can I get an autograph?" she said calmly, smiling at me.
Her teeth were extremely yellow. It was unsettling.
'This woman…'
I took the paper and pen she handed me.
But when I read what was written on it, I was shocked.
I couldn't hide my reaction.
