I always understood why Rafael handed Kingston Corp over to a professional CEO and buried himself in a hospital that wasn't even fully his.
We had walked into conference rooms before and faced doctors and executives at Houston Hospital. This was nothing like that. The scale was different. The air was different.
The auditorium here was bigger. There were far more executive shareholders. But the worst part was the look in their eyes whenever my gaze met theirs. Every single one of them carried the same calculating question: What can this weak woman who appeared out of nowhere give me if I side with her?
It was exhausting. The kind of pressure that stole your breath and left you standing alone in a crowded room.
Even the chair's voice through the speakers sounded distant under the weight of all those hidden agendas.
