Viona's POV
D-Day of The Board Meeting
"They said it was supposed to snow today. Thankfully, it doesn't look like it will. At least it's not too cold."
Jane sat in the passenger seat beside me, trying to cut through the heavy silence that had filled the car since we left the house.
I didn't answer. My mind was stuck on the kids at home and the video Veronica had threatened to release if I didn't play along.
I slid my phone open and started typing a message to Michael. Before I could finish, Jane's hand covered the screen and gripped it tight enough to freeze my fingers in place.
I frowned and looked at her. She was already watching me.
"You already sent him a message five minutes ago. He got it. Everyone in the house knows. The kids won't be watching any kind of media today." Her voice was steady. "They're fine. Try to relax, okay?"
"Relax?"
