Viona's POV
I let out a quiet, sad breath.
"Oh no. No, dears… Come here. Come to Mommy."
I opened my arms and gently waved him closer, inviting him into the hug where Vae was still tucked against me.
"Roey is afraid you'll go like Father," Vae explained. "Because Father left after yelling with that scary look in his eyes."
Roey walked toward me slowly, lips pressed tight. The moment he was close enough, I pulled him in and kissed his forehead.
"Oh, dear… Mommy is sorry, alright? I'm sorry. No… Mommy isn't going anywhere. You don't need to worry. Where would I go when all my sweethearts are right here?"
I tried to keep my voice as cheerful as I could so it wouldn't sound sad or broken.
"But Father isn't here. I miss him." His low voice against my shoulder made my chest tighten.
I know, dear… I know. I miss him too.
