Viona's POV
I kept cracking my knuckles one by one, pacing back and forth in front of the study. The kids were in there.
I was still cursing myself for letting them see me break down. For screaming like that until they got scared. Ever since they were born, I'd done everything I could not to yell or get rough in front of them, no matter how naughty they were. I could always hold it in.
But what I did three days ago still felt unforgivable.
Jane opened the study door and gave me a light smile when she saw the worry on my face.
"Jane… already on break?"
She paused for a second, then that familiar warm, mocking smile curved across her lips.
"Oh, come on, Viona. I told you it's fine. They're fine. You're worrying for nothing."
I bit my lower lip and glanced toward the window, catching a glimpse of them sitting at their desks. Everyone in the house kept saying the triplets were fine. I still couldn't settle.
"But this time was fatal, Jane." My voice cracked.
