Third Person's POV
Jane pressed her lips together, her eyes settling on the black television screen as she tried to make sense of it.
She let out a heavy sigh.
"They should be. There's no way Rafael—"
"There was a way." Rodrique's cold voice cut through her sentence. His gaze moved anxiously between Jane and Dimitri.
"What do you mean?"
"Mr. Kingston signed those divorce papers out of anger. But not long after that, he threw them into the trash. Then he paid someone at the civil registry to change their marital status to divorced for a certain period, just to make Mrs. Kingston believe they had actually divorced."
"Asshole," Jane cursed under her breath.
"But…" Rodrique hesitated, the words catching somewhere before he could force them out. "I took the divorce papers he threw away and gave them to Mrs. Delano, along with a copy of their marriage contract."
His head lowered. "I was still working as her spy back then."
