Chapter 25 - On Both Sides of the Ocean

After finishing their third year, Harry and Barry went to the States for the whole summer. They lived in Central City, where Harry was finally able to visit after everything that had happened.

Henry, meanwhile, returned to work, as his long vacation had gone on too long. Burrow was not far behind, returning to a Muggle hospital where she was able to find a job. In ordinary American hospitals, people weren't particularly afraid of wizards working there...

The boys spent most of their time at the slot machines; it was now the mid-nineties, and many of the machines that had been installed at the beginning of the previous decade were still there, so the boys were having a blast.

When Barry broke his previous record, he noticed that he was in second place...

"Iris U?" The boy looked annoyed. "What the hell? Who's Iris U? How dare she beat me?!"

"Harry" immediately understood what was going on. Iris U was definitely Iris West. He smiled. So his wife was here too. Of course, she wasn't his wife here, and judging by Barry's reaction, they didn't even know each other in this world.

"Ugh, hold on, girl!" Barry aggressively threw another coin, starting a new game. It seemed he was determined to beat Iris.

"I'm not a girl!" a girl's voice suddenly rang out.

The boys turned around and saw a dark-skinned girl whom "Harry" recognised immediately. Iris West was impossible to miss... She stood with her arms crossed over her chest, her eyebrows raised haughtily and a smile on her face.

"What? Can't you accept that a girl beat you?"

"It won't last," Barry muttered, continuing to fight fiercely for the record.

Iris just shrugged and leaned against the neighbouring machine, watching Barry try to beat her record.

 "I suppose you're Iris U?" asked Harry.

"Iris West, if you must know," the girl said, holding out her hand.

"Harry Potter," he replied, shaking her hand. "And this is my brother, whose record you broke. His name is Barry."

"Harry and Barry Potter," Iris smiled. "That sounds funny."

"Actually, my surname is Allen!" the boy immediately responded.

 "Really?

"We're stepbrothers, sort of," nodded Harry.

"Oh, I see... I have a stepbrother too, by the way. His name is Ronnie Raymond..."

"Harry" choked on this news. What?!

"Um, are you okay?" Iris squinted.

"Yeah, everything's fine. I just choked on my own saliva.

 "Oh, okay.

"Ha!" Barry suddenly shouted. "You ate it, didn't you?! Ha-ha! Take that!"

The girl immediately ran to the screen, seeing that "Barry A" was in first place and she was in second.

 "Damn!" Iris sighed disappointedly.

"Listen," Harry said to Barry, pointing at his watch. "We have to go now."

"Really?" The boy raised his eyebrows. "All right... Well, it was nice meeting you, Iris West."

"Likewise," the girl smiled, but then gave him a conspiratorial smile. "But when you come back here, you'll be in second place again."

"Come on, don't get your hopes up!

And the boys laughed merrily and left the game centre. Harry was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, and Barry looked at him with interest:

 "Everything okay?" he asked.

"Well, apart from meeting my wife's doppelganger, yes," Harry exhaled.

 "What?" he asked in surprise.

"Yes, yes!" the guy replied. "In my country, when my parents died, I was taken in by Joe West, Iris's father. We were like step-brother and sister, and I loved her from the very first day we met...

"Oh," shrugged Barry. "Well, I hope she's a Muggle in this world, because I quietly cast a spell that increased my score a thousandfold. Iris would never be able to beat my record, even if she wanted to..."

"Barry!" "Harry" protested. "You know magic is forbidden outside Hogwarts."

"But we're in the United States, if that matters," the boy winked.

 "Damn you...

But magic was indeed forbidden outside Hogwarts, but if you left British territory, responsibility for you fell to the local Ministry of Magic, in this case, the American one. And here they weren't so strict about using magic outside the school walls.

Hermione had been spending a lot of time with Caitlin lately. The girls had managed to visit all the magical and Muggle places in London. Caitlin even managed to sneak her friend into a nightclub once, where the age limit was strictly eighteen, but with certain connections, it was easy to get in. However, since they were only fourteen, the girls didn't drink alcohol or flirt with anyone. They just danced and had fun, because the music was great.

At that moment, they were on Tower Bridge, standing a little apart to watch the nighttime London, because very soon the bridge would begin to open.

"I wonder how the boys are doing," Caitlin said suddenly. "I know Harry and Barry are in America, and Ron seems to have gone to Romania..."

"They'll be back in the last month," Hermione replied. "By the way, the Quidditch World Cup is coming up soon! Are you going?"

 "I... I don't know, I'm not really into it... Who's playing?

"Bulgaria and Ireland, if I'm not mistaken.

"Well, if you're going, then maybe I'll come too.

 "Come, Kate, you must come!
