Kaida's eyes blazed with a fierce intensity as she gazed at Ava. "You're the one," she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "You're the Alpha's mate. The one he's been searching for."
Ava felt a shiver run down her spine as Kaida's words confirmed her suspicions. Ryker was searching for her? But why?
Kaida's laughter was cold and mirthless. "You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. He's not what you think he is. He's a monster, and you're just a pawn in his game."
Ava's instincts told her to be wary of Kaida, but a part of her wondered if there was more to the girl's story. Was she truly motivated by jealousy, or was there something more at play?
"You're jealous," Ava said, her voice steady. "You're jealous of the bond that Ryker and I share."
Kaida's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, Ava thought she saw a glimmer of tears. But when Kaida spoke, her voice was cold and hard.
"I'm not jealous," she spat. "I just know what he is. And I'll make sure you do too."
