The next morning the whole house was like on fire. The loud voices of the trio in that house could be heard from far away.
" Lia, you forgot to pack your socks and stockings. Go quickly and pack them up!" her grandma shouted, who was preparing breakfast for them, while the girls were running here and there, one stuffing the bag making it a mess while the other grabbing all the things that they were going to take with them.
" I told you guys to pack it yesterday but you both lied and told me that it's already packed." Grandma scolded both of them while toasting bread for them.
" Scold us later, grandma. First, bring me our toothbrushes. I can't find it." Lia said while giving the socks and stockings to Bella to pack.
" You put them already inside your backpack. Check it carefully." grandma said and Lia hurriedly made her way towards her backpack.
" But it isn't here. I can't see it." Lia said and turned her bag upside down to take everything out.
" Why are you taking everything out, Lia? We don't have much time. We are already late by half an hour." Bella said and came to stand behind her sister.
" I found it! Finally!" Lia said, holding the toothbrush like a trophy.
" Good. Now pack everything back. Hurry! I'm going to take the bags outside and put them in Uncle Tony's car." Bella announced and grabbed one of the bags.
" Ok. You go." Lia said and started to shove all the things that she took out earlier. She also grabbed one of the bags and went out to where Uncle Tony's car was.
" Did you bring all the bags yet?" Uncle Tony asked them.
" One more is left. I'll bring it." Bella said hurriedly and dashed towards her home.
Uncle Tony helped to keep all their luggage in the trunk of the car. He adjusted the last bag that Bella brought and shut the trunk.
" Everything's packed. Now hurry. Sit, or else we will be late." Uncle Tony said and opened the back seat car's door for them.
" Wait! Wait!" came grandma's voice from behind. She came hastily towards them and handed a packet in Lia's hand.
" It's for breakfast. You won't have enough time to make your breakfast when you reach there. I have packed sandwiches for both of you." grandma said and both the girls nodded their heads.
" Thank you, grandma. We will miss you. We will come to meet you whenever we get a chance." Lia said and hugged her grandma.
" I need a hug too." Bella said and hugged both of them.
" I'll also miss you both. Now hurry." grandma said to them. Lia and Bella sat inside the car and said bye to grandma. Uncle Tony started the car's engine and started to drive.
Lia looked outside the car's window. She saw the fields, trees, and mountains of their village passing by. She had spent all these years in this village and was attached to its everything. To be honest, if she could, she wouldn't have wanted to study in the town. It was her grandma's wish and she couldn't say no to her. Her grandma was the most hardworking person she has ever met. She will stand out in the sun, supervising the work of laborers in her field. During mealtime, she would prepare lunch for all of them and their family.
Time passed sitting in the car. The sun kept rising above the horizon as they neared the town. Lia's eyes gobbled the spectacular tall buildings and stood upright in a line. Because of the busy roads and traffic in the town, they were another half an hour late than their expected time.
" I'll bring your bags inside. Go inside and have your breakfast first. Only one hour is left for your classes to start." Uncle Tony said and they quickly nodded their heads.
" Thank you, Uncle Tony." Bella said and grabbed Lia's hand.
" Let's go. We don't have enough time." Bella said and dragged Lia with her. They entered the empty house that they had rented.
" Where should we sit?" Bella asked as she looked around the house.
" Who cares whether we sit or not. Open the lunchbox. We can eat breakfast while standing too." Lia said and Bella quickly obeyed her words. They grabbed two sandwiches each, one in both hands, and started to eat them hurriedly.
" I have brought all the things up. I'll be going then. Best of luck for your first day." Uncle Tony said, putting down the last bag on the ground.
" Th-ank-y-ou On-cle." Bella thanked Uncle Tony, her mouth full of sandwich.
" Bye. Take care." Uncle Tony said and left the place.
" I'm done eating. I'm going to take a bath and change my dress." Lia said and walked towards the kitchen sink to wash her hands.
" Ok." Bella said, taking the last bite of her sandwich.
Lia went towards her bag and took out a pair of black jeans and her ironed white shirt. She went towards the bathroom and took a quick shower. She came out of the bathroom and Bella stepped inside. They were running late and had to move fast if they don't want to be late on their first day of college and receive detention.
Lia wore her dress and combed her waist-lengthed hair into a simple ponytail. She wore the wristwatch that her grandmother gifted her on her very recent birthday and put on her black boots.
" Bella, I'm ready. You hurry too." Lia shouted since her sister hadn't came out of the bathroom yet.
" I'm also done showering." Bella said, coming out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel.
" Hurry. We have only twenty minutes now." Lia said, checking her watch.
" Yeah, yeah. I'll be ready soon." Bella said and started to wear her dress hurriedly. She wore a pair of blue jeans and a yellow top. She combed her light brown, shoulder-length hair and put on her shoes.
" I'm ready." Bella announced and Lia gave her a bag.
" I have put all your books in it. I'll take the keys with me." Lia said and both of them headed out of the house. Lia locked the house and put the keys inside her bag.
" Only ten minutes left," Lia said and both of them started running towards their college. Within a few minutes, they had already reached the campus. Lia's eyes sparkled when she saw the castle-like college and the large campus, the whole area surrounded by greeneries.
" Lia? Why did you stop? The class would be starting any minute now!" Bella screamed and ran back towards her sister who paused in the mid-way of running.
" Is it a college or a king's palace?" Lia sounded amazed. Her eyes glittered while taking the whole surrounding in.
" Well, it does look like a palace but, we don't have time to get amazed right now. Hurry!" Bella said to her. She held Lia's hand and started running towards her class with her.
" What was the room number of our first class?" Bella asked Lia who was still looking at her left and right, adoring the beauty of this place.
" 2nd floor, room number 13." Lia answered still not looking at Bella. Bella sighed and took the stairs to the 2nd floor. Finally, they reached the second floor. On top of every room, the room number was written.
" One, two, three..." Bella was walking while looking at the room number. Suddenly both of them heard the bell ring. It means the class has started!
" Stop looking left and right, you fool. Run!" Bella said and both of them started to run towards their class. Lia was a fast runner as compared to Bella so she entered the class first, followed by her.
" Finally, we made it!" Lia announced and entered the class when she bumped into something hard, hurting her forehead. Everyone in the class gasped, while Lia massaged her forehead where she hurt herself.
" Ouch!" she exclaimed and looked up to see with whom she collided. A boy wearing a black t-shirt and pants with a black leather jacket was standing, looking down, directly into the eyes of Lia.
" Aren't you going to apologize to him?" one of the girls said to Lia, walking towards her. She was wearing a black short skirt, that was way too short, and a white crop top. Her arms crossed in front of her chest, intentionally pushing her breasts up. Lia scoffed hearing her.
" Shouldn't he be the one to apologize since he was standing at the doorway?" Lia said back while the whole class again gasped.
" Whom are you talking with Lia? The teacher is coming. Let's go and take a seat." Bella said and took Lia away with her. Both of them sat on the bench but missed to see the smirk on his face when he whispered the name of the girl that caught his attention.
" Lia. Interesting." he whispered with a smirk and left the classroom.
