Here's Chapter 14 of Eclipse Warden:
Chapter 14: The Becoming
The body of Sol'Ryn had vanished, leaving behind only light particles that drifted toward Kael like golden dust. The air itself trembled. Each fragment of divine essence that touched Kael's shadow burned and warped, reshaped into something new.
Power pure and endless flowed through him. His body screamed in agony, his veins bursting with both light and darkness. The divine energy tried to purify him, while his shadow tried to consume it. The two forces tore at his soul, each fighting for dominance.
Kael clenched his fists. His breath came in short, heavy bursts. The sky above him cracked again, unable to contain the pressure of what he was becoming.
Inside him, the voice of the shadow spoke.
"You stand at the edge of ascension. But power demands sacrifice."
Kael's vision blurred. He saw flashes of his past his village burning, his family dying, his own helplessness. Then he saw his empire, his people, kneeling before him not out of fear, but out of faith.
He understood then: he could not become a god of destruction alone. He would become something greater a balance between light and shadow, creation and ruin.
He raised his hands, letting both energies merge inside him. The pain was unimaginable. The divine essence tried to burn away his humanity, but his shadow refused to let go.
"Enough," Kael growled. "I will not be consumed by either."
A shockwave erupted from his body. The entire continent felt it. Mountains split, oceans surged, and the heavens dimmed.
When the storm subsided, Kael stood transformed. His armor gleamed with threads of silver light woven into black steel. His eyes no longer glowed red, but a shifting spectrum light and shadow intertwined.
The shadows bowed before him, sensing the change. Even the divine remnants lingered in silence, unable to defy him.
Kael looked to the sky. The stars themselves seemed to bend around him.
He whispered, "I am no longer mortal… nor god."
His voice echoed across worlds.
"I am the balance that both light and darkness feared."
From that day, the people no longer called him Kael Veyra. They called him The Eclipse Warden the being who stood between heaven and abyss, ruler of both realms, breaker of divine law.
And far beyond the stars, other gods trembled, realizing that one mortal had found the path to eternity without their blessing.
