The next morning, the pair woke feeling refreshed. They went through their morning routine before heading down to breakfast, leisurely sipping coffee while enjoying the morning view over the Academy grounds.
Morgranna asked if they'd be willing to film a testimonial for the orientation video, and if so, when. After some thought, they agreed to do it in two days—they wanted to finish Chaos's merged solo-run first.
They left on time, arriving with twenty minutes to spare, and sipped their coffee while waiting for the Teachers (as was their habit). This time, however, they discussed raising the subject of differences between regular Twin Demon merged forms and Chaos's forms.
When the Teachers arrived, Chaos spoke up sheepishly. "Teacher Beelzebub, my merged form and regular Twin Demon merged forms are different, so the merged solo-run might need to be adjusted." He scratched the back of his neck.
Both Beelzebub's and Zera's eyebrows shot up, and they gestured for him to elaborate.
"Regular Twin Demons only have merged and separate forms, but Chaos has separate, siamese merge, partial merge, semi-merge, and full merge. This gives us more combat forms," Bane explained.
"Huh… now this is a whole new level of chaos—no pun intended," Beelzebub remarked after processing the revelation.
"None taken. I had the same thought when I first found out!" Chaos responded with a wry grin.
"We'll consider that as we run the drills. We'll start you off with a full merge and go from there. Now head over and set your settings," instructed Beelzebub.
Chaos split into Yi and Er, who moved to the control panel. As Yi set the Grav settings, chaos erupted between them—they began bickering about which music genre to use, escalating quickly into a full-blown brawl in the corridor.
"Synth-metal!" "Movie scores!"
Yi and Er rolled around on the floor wrestling, hollering their preferred genres at each other. Meanwhile, Bane sipped coffee (Morgranna had packed him extra) and observed.
"Are they always like this?" Zera asked, glancing at the brawl in mild horror, with Beelzebub equally aghast.
"This is still mild for them," Bane replied dryly, sighing before rising and marching over to bonk both on the head, stopping the fight before it could escalate.
"OW!" x2
"You do know there are genres that blend both, right?" Bane informed them, raising an eyebrow.
"Eh?!" "EH!"
Realisation dawned on Yi and Er, who looked at Bane like eager puppies.
"Try Epic Metal. See if you like it," Bane sighed, returning to his chair.
"That was the voice of experience," Beelzebub remarked, as Yi and Er hurried off to queue the playlist.
"There are three of us managing those two. We take turns; otherwise, the Dorm would be a wreck nearly every day," Bane said dryly.
At that point, the Chaos Twins merged again, received authorisation to enter the Grav chamber, and began their basic drills with Bane and the Teachers watching.
Thankfully, as soon as training started, Chaos behaved, while outside, the Teachers and Bane discussed Chaos's bickering and merge forms.
"So they fight like this at least twice a day?" Zera asked curiously.
"It used to be before the Awakening. After, they mostly bicker mentally. When they're separated, either Morgranna, Morgana, or I intervene," Bane explained.
"I bonk them on the head; the Mammys just haul them apart. If merged, I ignore it unless it gets deafening. Sometimes I even fan the flames—just for fun," Bane added with a shrug.
The Teachers' eyebrows shot up. "Aren't you worried they'll gang up on you?"
"They try—and fail—every time, but keep falling for it!" Bane grinned mischievously.
The Teachers shook their heads in exasperation.
"So what can you tell us about Chaos's merge forms?" Zera asked.
"Honestly, not much. Tian Dao only listed the forms and told us to 'explore for ourselves,'" Bane sighed. "Siamese, separate, and full merge are mostly self-explanatory, but we're still puzzled by the others."
"We haven't dared try the merge forms without a Teacher since we don't know what'll happen. Hopefully, training helps to keep the chaos in check by giving them a goal."
By then, Chaos had achieved complete mastery of the basic drills and advanced straight to the harder ones, and so far, everything was going smoothly.
Famous last words.
After Chaos finished mastering the advanced drills, it was time for the free-form session. That's when chaos broke loose—both literally and figuratively.
As training transitioned to the free-form drills, the energy in the area shifted. The Teachers watched closely, sensing things might get out of hand.
Chaos moved from one manoeuvre to the next seamlessly. But Beelzebub frowned, leaning forward. "This is going to end badly if they keep this up."
"?"
"Right now, only one is in control while the other is backseat driving—a disaster in the making," Beelzebub explained. He opened comms to the Grav chamber. "Chaos, you both need to be in control at the same time. Think of it like piloting a mecha together."
He deactivated the Grav chamber to let them regroup.
After a moment, Bane stirred. "Uh-oh, they're at it again. Let me try something, Teacher. Maybe I can get through."
Beelzebub nodded, letting Bane use comms. "Okay, Yi, Er, remember the siege combat mode as a trio?"
Chaos nodded, silent but attentive.
"How did you cooperate then? How did you move and shadow each other? Try remembering that, but do it merged!" Bane finished, hoping this would resolve things before lunch.
Chaos nodded, closed his eyes, and began the drills again. The energy shifted— frantic discord fading into a choreographed, chaotic rhythm that just fit Chaos perfectly.
The three outside the Grav chamber collectively sighed in relief.
"This is why we never tried the merge forms unsupervised," Bane remarked.
"Understandable. At least Chaos is aware of their flaws. That's a start," Beelzebub said.

As usual, everything was recorded and uploaded to the forums, with comments exploding once again.

Golden sunlight filtered through the arched windows as the four Headmasters gathered around the oak conference table. Embers still glowed faintly in the grand fireplace; the scent of roasted coffee drifted from a set of mismatched mugs at the table's centre.
Headmaster Solis set down his mug with a contemplative clink. "I trust you've all seen the latest forum post about the Chaos Twins'…unique approach to training?"
Headmaster Rowan's lips curved into a wry smile. "Unique is one way to put it. I've reviewed the footage twice. If nothing else, they keep the student body entertained—though I'm not sure our Teachers have recovered yet."
Headmaster Everdawn brushed a fleck of ash from his sleeve, eyes intent. "Bane handled it well, but it's clear the standard protocols don't apply to Chaos's merged forms. Those transitions—partial, semi, full—they're unprecedented among Twin Demons."
Headmaster Varkos snorted, folding his arms. "They're a hazard and a marvel both. The bickering, the music squabbles, the sheer unpredictability... but I watched how quickly they recalibrated once Beelzebub and Bane gave them direction. Adaptability like that is rare."
Solis nodded. "Which brings us to adjustments. Should we alter training regimens further for them? Or assign additional supervision, perhaps?"
Everdawn frowned thoughtfully. "We could design merge-form-specific drills. Give the Twins clear objectives and let them experiment—but under Teacher oversight. The last thing we need is an unsupervised Chaos experiment running through our walls."
Rowan interjected, "And perhaps record more testimonial sessions with the Twins. Their perspective could inform future policy on non-standard merges. I'd also like to see if Morgranna or Morgana have observed patterns that we've missed."
There was a pause as Varkos refilled his mug, glancing at the door as if expecting an explosion. "Let's not discount the chaos element. It keeps the staff on their toes and the Academy...less predictable. But contained chaos—there's power in it. We should guide, not smother."
Solis gave a brief, approving nod. "Then it's settled. Adapted drills, more observation, and—if we dare—invite the Chaos Twins for a demonstration of their merged forms. If nothing else, it will be memorable."
Rowan grinned. "Memorable is one word for it. Let's hope it's not catastrophic."
As laughter rose among the Headmasters, sunlight glimmered across the table—a rare harmony, even in the presence of chaos.

Meanwhile, the advice Chaos received was working, as they managed to complete full merge free-form drills without further incident. Chaos then changed to his semi-merge form, catching everyone by surprise.
Chaos—Yi and Er—were now merged in a configuration where everything from chest-height up was separated, and everything below, fully merged. They were back-to-back, one face facing backwards, one forward.
Yi was facing backwards, Er forward; their arms were separate again, each following their original owner.
"Okay, this is definitely going to take getting used to, but it does allow for surprise attacks," Beelzebub finally remarked, dryly, after processing Chaos's new appearance.
Zera was frozen, still processing.
And Bane, well, Bane was being his typical self, giggling while taking pictures and uploading them onto Conclave, enjoying the comments.
"Well, remember the feeling from your full merge and try the drills again," Beelzebub instructed.
Both Yi and Er nodded and started the drills again, from basic to free-form.
Thankfully, having found a feeling of balance earlier, they progressed through the drills smoothly.
Lunchtime arrived, so they paused, merging fully once again. As they sat in the cafeteria, the forums were once again ablaze due to the video of the merge form drills being uploaded.

The new thread attracted the attention of all the Nursery staff, including the Councils.
The virtual conference room shimmered into existence, a luminous round table surrounded by translucent avatars. The Councils' representative hovered at the apex, with the four Nursery Elders—Soleil, Lucius, Kyle, and Caine—arrayed on one flank. Opposite, Head Nocturne's figure pulsed like moonlight, while the four Headmasters—Solis, Everdawn, Rowan, and Varkos—blinked into place, spectral but unmistakable.
At the centre, a holo-projection spun the latest student forum videos in looping highlights: Chaos's bizarre new merge forms, the viral lunchroom footage, student comments exploding with gifs, and a freeze-frame of Beelzebub's stupefied expression.
Councils Rep (voice modulated for authority): "Thank you all for convening. As you have seen, today's drills and the student reactions require our attention. Nursery Elders, your perspectives first?"
Soleil (Nursery Elder): "Our staff have never witnessed a merge transition like this. The unpredictability—and adaptability—raise both opportunity and risk. We're gathering Teacher and student reactions, and…well, the forms are popular but potentially hazardous."
Lucius (Nursery Elder): "Children are attempting to mimic what they see online. Already, our youngest are imitating 'Mega Chaos Spin.' Our top priority is safety, both in training and in the Nursery. Has a formal announcement clarified these are unique circumstances?"
Kyle (Nursery Elder): "On the other hand, Chaos's uniqueness has reignited enthusiasm across all cohorts. Perhaps we should support, rather than suppress, this energy—with supervision."
Caine (Nursery Elder): "If managed well, this could become a model for adaptive training. But the social impact…is wild."
Head Nocturne (quietly): "We can channel some of that chaos constructively. But we need to double both forum supervision and physical monitoring, for now."
Headmaster Solis (with a nod): "We've seen that Chaos's forms don't fit our current protocols. The adaptability is astonishing. But what are our boundaries?"
Headmaster Everdawn: "We're considering merge-form-specific drills for Chaos and others like them if they arise. They'll be closely monitored. And more testimonial recordings from the Twins will help inform future guidance."
Headmaster Rowan (half-grin): "The student body's never been more engaged. It could be an opportunity to document new standards—if we can contain the mayhem."
Headmaster Varkos (gruff): "The chaos keeps everyone sharp, but don't drop your guard. I vote for more flexible protocols—contain chaos, don't deny it."
Councils Rep: "Consensus, then: adapt training, increase observation, and perhaps host a formal demonstration. Document and distil these findings for future generations."
Soleil: "And a communication to all Academy and Nursery staff about supervision and safety, please."
Lucius: "We'll compile a report on imitation behaviours and notify Mammys, Teachers, and medical teams."
Councils Rep (finalising): "Very well. You each have your tasks. We reconvene in one week. May order arise, at least briefly, from this chaos."
With that, the holo-table faded, the avatars shimmering out one by one—leaving behind a crackle of energy, and promise of controlled chaos ahead.
Soon, the Nursery Elders and Headmasters posted a joint announcement: Chaos's different forms were due to their unique circumstances and were not the norm. Students were allowed to attempt, if they were siblings or had familiars, to see if they also had 'special' forms—but only under strict Teacher supervision, as even Chaos and Bane dare not experiment unsupervised. Students were urged to follow Chaos and Bane's example in requesting Teacher assistance to avoid dangerous situations.

The responses to this announcement were overwhelming.
Student Forum Discussion: OFFICIAL CHAOS ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Topic: Can WE get special Chaos forms too?!
CookieCraze9: Did you see the new post from the Headmasters and Nursery Elders? Chaos's forms aren't standard! Only special cases get those wild forms!
PixieMix: I wanted to try that crazy spinny merge with my little brother! But the new rule says we need a Teacher watching or else, like, NOPE!
DragonDuckling: My familiar is a frog. Think I could do a frog-merge? I'm asking my Teacher!
MegaMoo: My sister said if we try merging, we'd fall over and bonk heads. But I still want to try the Epic Metal Chaos Dance anyway.
SunshineSprout: Did you see? Even Chaos and Bane DON'T try things alone! Must be really hard or super weird!
PuddlePopper: My Mammy said to always get a Teacher for ANY merge experiment. But I want to see if my kitty wants to do a back-to-back spin! XD
CookieCraze9: My idea: let's have a special merge day, with all the Teachers there!
PixieMix: Yesss! And if we get a special form, we could go viral like Chaos!
DragonDuckling: I'm gonna wear two hats, just in case my merge form has two heads!! MegaMoo: LOL! Don't forget snacks for both heads!!
SunshineSprout: Who's signing up for merge experiments? What if your familiar gets the voice and you don't?!
PuddlePopper: I'd be fine if my kitty meowed for me all day. MEOWMERGE!
CookieCraze9: Poll: If you could have any special form, what would it be? Two heads? Extra arms? SPINNY LEGS?
PixieMix: I pick flying merge! Or Super Fast Dance Merge!
DragonDuckling: Frog-merge!!
MegaMoo: SNACK-POWER MERGE!
SunshineSprout: Good luck to everyone! Don't forget your Teachers, or Bane will bonk you! XD

Meanwhile, Chaos, Bane, and the Teachers returned to the Grav chambers to continue Chaos's training. The next run would be the partial merge form.
When Chaos got Teacher approval, the partial merge form was initiated. They quickly discovered that this form was true, unadulterated chaos incarnate. The partial merge form represented an unstable fusion—only certain features, powers, or attributes of Chaos combined, resulting in a state that was neither fully integrated nor entirely separate.
In this form, Chaos retained select aspects of their individuality (such as consciousness or core abilities), while new, chaotic traits emerged from the unpredictable interaction between them. Partial physical transformation, fluctuating energy signatures, and a volatile blend of strengths and weaknesses characterised this form.
It granted some enhanced abilities but came at the cost of instability, internal conflict, and limited control—often manifesting as unpredictable bursts of power or erratic behaviour. Teacher Beelzebub decided to end training with this form immediately, decreeing it should only be experimented with later, under strict supervision of specific Classes ready to intervene, and only with a whole medical team present, just in case.
They moved on to Chaos's siamese merge form, hoping this one would be less…chaotic. This form was more normal—reminiscent of conjoined Twins, with their hips attached in a back-to-back state and the rest separated.
"Okay, this one is relatively…normal. Continue as you did in the full merge and semi-merge forms—go through the drills again," Beelzebub instructed, shaking his head at Chaos's weird merge forms.
The Chaos Twins nodded and started their drills as instructed, maintaining the feeling they had in the previous usable forms. The drills went quite smoothly; there were some minor hiccups in the beginning, but they were quickly corrected. Soon, their proficiency was perfect as they progressed to the free-form drills, which they soon completed as they got used to this merged form.
By then, it was nearly day's end, so Beelzebub decided to stop for today. Tomorrow, they'd continue the drill training, this time with Bane and Chaos as a team. They'd also go through their merge forms, except for the partial form, as it was too volatile for now.
Chaos, who had fully merged again, and Bane thanked the Teachers for their insights and headed home to relax and sleep. They would need it for tomorrow's training.
