The night air hit him as he stepped out of Elena's apartment.
He let out a deep breath, running his hand down his hair as if that could clear his head.
He raised his hand to stop a passing taxi. But then his eyes caught a pharmacy from across the street.
The place was still open, for a moment Lucas contemplated, and then he sighed and crossed over.
Inside the whole place smelled of antiseptic. He did not waste much of his time, he knew exactly what she was going to need in the morning to get rid of her hangover.
He honestly did not know why he was doing this but he just felt like he had to.
He grabbed the drugs from the shelve, paid quickly and left.
He walked back into her building with the bag in his hand, when he got to the front of her apartment he dropped the bag neatly in front of her door, his hand lingering on it for too long.
She definitely will not know it was me. She would not even remember anything from this night.
He scoff and walked away.

Now he was back to his earlier position of trying to stop a cab,
He was not really in a hurry, he was only tired and was craving his bed.
His car was not too far from where he was standing. He knew exactly where he had left it, just beside a broken street light.
When he did not see a cab, he placed both hands in his pocket and began walking down the quiet street.
But when he finally got there... it was gone.
For a second Lucas froze, he thought maybe he had missed the road and walked through a wrong block.
He checked the next row of cars that were also parked there. But he did not see anything that looked like his car.
Fuck, he said kicking the air with his leg.
He dragged his hand through the hair, as he walked from one point to another, already feeling frustrated.
His camera, house key, his wallet, everything inside the car was gone.
Thankfully he had been with his phone.
Every photo he had taken of Elena Moore was gone. Just gone.
He punched the street light out of anger.
What a perfect night Lucas he said to himself sarcastically, letting out a bitter laugh.

He tried stopping a cab but at two am in this part of the city it was difficult.
Few cars slowed down, but sped off almost immediately.
He thought of going back Elena's but he quickly shook that idea off. She was the reason he was going through this mess in the first place.
He tried calling his friend whose house was like an hour away but all to no avail.
By that time his feet was already aching from walking aimlessly, he knew there was no other choice left.
He pulled his jacket tighter towards him, muttered few curses under his breath and started jogging towards the only place he could go to which was jays place.
***
By the time Lucas got to jays house he was sweating profusely, his whole body was aching most especially his legs.
Lucas knocked hard, too hard.
Who the hell his that jay groan from inside before opening the door slightly.
Jay's hair was a mess, his eyes were half shut when he saw Lucas,
Yo man it's three am in the morning.
Do you not have a house?
Lucas pushed past him and went inside the house, collapsing on the tiny couch in the living room.
My car is gone Lucas said defeated.
Jay robbed his face with his hand. Towed or stolen which of them.
Towed. With my camera, house key, and some other important documents. Lucas said his voice flat.
After sometime jay spoke. You mean the camera huh.
The one that have everything about Elena that could change our lives.
At the mention of Elena's name, Lucas mind went back her apartment.
He could not seem to shake off the feeling of vulnerability that he had seen in her eyes.
Jay snapped his hand in front of Lucas face bringing him back to life.
Lucas blinked and shot him a dead glare.
I am not doing this, and you are also not going to.
Jay held his hand up. Yo man relax.
What you have is pure gold. You are sitting on a life changing opportunity.
Do you know how much instagram would throw at you for those.
I know but I do not care, I can not bare to see her like that ever again.
Since when do you care how they feel, Jay snapped at him.
I told you nobody post them until I say so, Lucas snapped back at him.
Jay smirked and then continued we will see about that.
Lucas did not say a word after that, he just leaned against the couch, the alcohol had already began to kick in, he closed his eyes and just like that sleep engulfed him.
***
Lucas laid down on the couch, one of his arm hanging off the side, his jacket throw carelessly on the floor, he looked so tired and for once he was quite.
Jay sat on the edge of his bed, he was now wide awake.
He could not seem to stop himself from thinking about what his friend Lucas had told him.
Elena Moore proposing at the rooftop.
Everyone knew that a scandal like that was a lot of money. It was everything he had been craving for and more.
Lucas had warned him not to do anything about it. Not to act stupid.
But that was how Lucas was, he was always too careful, always trying to play safe.
Meanwhile jay was still trying to pay his rent.
His eyes landed on the phone in Lucas opened hand, he knew Lucas too well.
His camera always synced with his phone, as a backup.
So that means if he had really taken a picture of Elena Moore they were right there on his phone.
