Jay stumbled back, his glass hitting the floor. Splashing the left over coffee all over the place.
This should be the last time you ever lay your hands
on my work.
Lucas hissed. His voice came out low but dangerous.
Looks like the blogger have finally gotten a headline of his own, jay said with his hand on his now bursed lips.
Lucas sent him a dead glare, grabbed his jacket and walked out of his apartment.
His knuckles still sting from where he had hit jay.
He did not regret the punch, the bastard deserved more than what he got.
He could not stop replaying, jay's excitement, the way he spoke about the whole situation.
Like ruining someone's life was a game.
The most annoying part was that Lucas had warned him not to make any post concerning it.
And yet the videos were everywhere.
Damn it Lucas muttered, running his fingers through his hair.
He placed both hands into his jacket pocket and started walking, as he was not in the mood to get a taxi.
First stop was the police station, his car had been towed since last night, and if it stayed any longer the bills will pile up.
As he walked, his mind went to Elena. He thought of how broken she would be.
He felt guilty because he had taken those pictures but he had no intention of posting them.
But now she must think he was the person who leaked it.
The fuck. If he was in her shoes he will think the same.
He wished he could undo the whole thing.
He wished he had been awake to snatch his phone back from jay before the damage.
But unfortunately he could not.
By the time Lucas got to the station, it was already past noon.
He rubbed the back of his neck, which where still sore from sleeping on jays tiny couch.
At the counter two police officers, where having a conversation when he walked in, they did not stop talking but their eyes moved to him.
Ah, so you are genius who left his car in the middle of nowhere.
One of them said, and the other one chuckled.
Lucas jaw tightened but he did not say a word.
Next time we will auction it off before you even know what is going on.
He forced a tiny smile, noted can we move past this.
He was not in the mood not after what Jay had done.
The man ignored him and shoved the release paper towards him.
Lucas signed the release papers with a stiff jaw, the pen almost tearing through the paper and also paid the fine.
Finally the officer said. Your car is in the yard.
Lucas could feel their eyes on his back, he could feel their quiet laughter, as he walked out.
A sense of relief washed over him when he saw his car.
He brought out his key from his pocket, and entered into the drivers side and, shut the door.
The first thing he did was to check, to confirm his properties. Everything was complete his camera and all.
His fingers mistakenly touched his phone which was in his pocket. He could not bring himself to look at the notifications again, the images were all ready everywhere.
He scrolled through twitter, facebook, instagram, TikTok.
Everywhere he looked it was her.
His work
His pictures
Only that he was not the one who posted them.
The headline as bold as ever.
What pissed him the fuck was the comments.
The ridicule.
He could not even bring himself to read it before putting his phone down.
This was not supposed to end up like this, he said resting his head on the steering wheel.
Hey a police officer shouted from outside hitting his car, do you think this is your garage? Leave.
Lucas looked up meeting the man's angry face from the window.
He was so pissed but he managed to give the man a small nod.
By the time Lucas got home, he dumped his bag containing the camera on the chair, kicked off his shoes, and opened his laptop forcefully without a care in the world.
Then his instincts kicked in.
He opened his twitter and hit report and the very first post.
And another just like that, until the system started giving him a warning.
His thumb moved so fast that it had begun to hurt.
But the issue was every time one video disappeared, 12 more popped up.
With Different accounts, different edits. They even made slow mo of her dancing, the slit of her dress moving with her.
Damn it jay.
Lucas slammed the laptop shut for a moment, pushing his hand through his hair.
He had to do something, he could not just sit there.
He tried taking them down manually, but more messages kept entering his inbox he saw one with fifty thousand retweets. Another instagram post with millions of views and more than a hundred thousand likes.
When he ran out of options he did the only thing that he could think of.
He dailed the number of Nate who he had not spoken to in months.
Nate was a computer guy who he met in school. He was the same person who hacked the university system just to change his academic record.
And he had also helped Lucas erase traces where he had been snooping.
Ring ring.
The phone rang twice and in the second ring Nate picked up.
Yo bro it's been ages, Nate spoke from the other line.
I need your help now.
Lucas voice cracked. It's really urgent, he did not let Nate talk before he continued.
Someone leaked my files, they are everywhere. I need you to help me take them down. Wipe them off the internet.
Nate signed on the other end, you have to slowdown Lucas What files are you talking about.
Lucas pinched the bridge of his nose.
It's the pictures of Elena Moore the actress. You know I took them, I did not have the intention of letting them out, but somehow it's trending now.
For a moment there was silence.
Shit Lucas.
Does she know you are linked to this.
Yes maybe he said defeated.
Then you are screwed.
This is not the time for that Nate, just tell me you can take it down.
I can try to if you give me the link, but listen man, once the video has gone viral, and people start downloading it, some screen recording it, and some even reposting it.
It's game over.
Lucas hold on his phone tightened. I know you Nate there has to be something you can do about it.
Anything just help.
I will do what I can.
And just like that the call ended.
