Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Magical Power Enhancement

"Wait, Kevin, you're new. You don't fully understand what an S-Class mission entails! They're incredibly dangerous, and we're not S-Class Mages—therefore, we're not qualified to accept it! An S-Class Mage should take this mission."

Elfman quickly pulled Kevin aside, speaking in hushed tones to prevent losing another companion due to an S-Class mission.

"But we've already accepted the mission, and today is the third day. Are we just going to stand by and watch the client get killed?"

"This..."

Elfman couldn't voice his concerns in front of the client, but Kevin's point was valid. S-Class missions were perilous, and even the most seasoned mages wouldn't take them lightly. Time was also against them; waiting for an S-Class Mage could be too late.

Kevin persuaded Elfman: "Elfman, this is an S-Class mission. Aren't you curious to challenge yourself?"

Elfman was tempted. Such opportunities were rare, and the path to S-Class required passing a rigorous exam.

"It's a unique chance. Who knows when the next one will come along."

"Don't you want to see the second floor? Completing this mission might earn us recognition from the Guild Master."

"And, aren't you a man, Elfman? Would you let the client be killed by villains without trying to stop it?"

Elfman's face turned red with determination, swayed by Kevin's logic: "Man!!"

With Elfman's resolve firm, Kevin knew they were in agreement.

"Mr. Mayor, we accept this mission."

"Thank you! Thank you very much!"

The Mayor was relieved. Despite having the Ancient Knight Order's protection, he felt uneasy, leading him to seek help from the Mage Guild.

Kevin addressed the Mayor: "Since the attackers plan to strike, we don't need to search for them. We'll wait here for them to come to us."

Elfman questioned, "But will they really come?"

The area was heavily guarded. Would the attackers risk walking into a trap?

"They should! Their advance threat indicates confidence in their strength."

"Mr. Mayor, during this time, you must stay in our sight. I can't guarantee your safety otherwise, and I wouldn't want to defeat the enemy only to have no one pay the reward."

Kevin's calm tone added pressure, prompting the Mayor's compliance.

"Alright... alright!"

"Very good! Elfman, you'll provide close protection for the Mayor."

"What about you, Kevin?"

"Me? I'll handle all incoming threats," Kevin replied confidently.

"Wait! Kevin, the opponent is the infamous King of Assassins!"

Elfman was incredulous that Kevin intended to confront such a formidable foe.

"So what."

Kevin's simple response left Elfman speechless.

"Mr. Mayor, please arrange some food. A big battle might be ahead, and we need to be well-fed."

"Yes, yes, yes!"

Encouraged by Kevin's composure, the Mayor promptly ordered the kitchen to prepare food.

Soon, a fragrant meal was brought out. Kevin ate heartily, while Elfman struggled to find his appetite.

"Hmm? Elfman, you're a big guy, why eat so little?"

"Kevin, it's an S-Class mission..."

Kevin laughed, "I know, that's what makes it exciting!"

"..."

Elfman realized Kevin, despite his ordinary appearance, was a thrill-seeker at heart.

After eating, Kevin settled on the sofa, eyeing the system panel before him.

**S-Class Mission: Eliminate the Phantom Bandit Gang. Mission Reward: One ten-pull gacha.**

The mission update on the system panel was a major motivator for Kevin.

He tapped the panel, selecting all characters except Ulquiorra, opting to recycle them.

**Are you sure you want to recycle all selected characters?**

"Confirm!"

**Ding! Recycling successful! Host's magic power increased ☆!**

The system allowed recycling excess characters, converting them into magic power—a handy feature for enhancing his abilities.

"Half a star? System, you're stingy! That blue elite was my first draw, it's sentimental."

**All calculations are precise. To increase magic power more significantly, recycle higher quality characters.**

"Forget it, I guess I'm generous."

Recycling high-quality characters? No chance; Ulquiorra was too valuable. Gold characters required 100 pulls for a guarantee—ten S-Class missions to earn one.

The rarity made gold characters extremely valuable.

**Host: Kevin Carter**

**Age: 18 years old**

**Race: Human**

**Magic Power: ★ ☆**

**Magic: Take Over Magic.**

**Character Card: Ulquiorra Cifer**

"With one and a half stars of magic power, I should manage one-tenth of Ulquiorra's strength for about three minutes, right?"
