Meryl's POV
Golden light filtered through the bedroom curtains, and the moment I cracked my eyes open, the brightness made me wince. My entire body ached in ways that brought back vivid memories of the night before. Every caress, every heated kiss, every moment when he claimed me completely.
Dear God.
I shifted carefully in bed, half expecting to find him still there beside me.
The other side of the bed was cold and empty.
Pulling the sheets up to cover myself, I sat up slowly. My hand brushed against something crisp on his pillow. A piece of paper, folded neatly.
I unfolded it with trembling fingers, already recognizing his handwriting.
Had to leave early for a meeting. You looked so beautiful sleeping, I couldn't bear to wake you. This day will be hell, but last night was perfect. I can still feel your skin under my hands. Still crave more of you.
Always more.
Heat flooded my cheeks as I clutched the note against my chest.
Then the guilt hit me like a physical blow.
