Meryl's POV
Dad stared directly at me, his gaze unwavering, searching my face for any hint of uncertainty.
"Do you mean what you just said?"
Through the tears streaming down my cheeks, I managed a slow nod. "Yes. I mean every word. I'll do whatever it takes. Just... don't shut me out. I couldn't bear losing you too."
"MERYL!"
Andre's roar cut through the tension like a blade. I didn't have to look to recognize the fury in his voice. His footsteps thundered across the ground as he approached, eyes blazing with shock and rage, his hands balled into tight fists.
"What are you talking about?"
I kept my mouth shut. The words wouldn't come.
"Please, Dad," I said again, my voice trembling but resolute. "If this is what it takes for your forgiveness... I'll walk away from Andre. I swear I will."
"Like hell you will," Andre snarled, his grip finding my arm as he pulled me closer. "You're not doing this. I won't stand for it."
"Let me go," I demanded, struggling against his hold.
