Meryl's POV
"Mommy, I'm starving!" Gavin whined from the backseat, surrounded by shopping bags that took up most of the space.
"You couldn't even wait for me to buckle my seatbelt before starting," I said, shaking my head.
"But my stomach is making monster noises! Listen!" He made an exaggerated growling sound and clutched his belly dramatically.
Andre laughed softly from the driver's seat. "Fine, little man. There's a good place nearby. We'll grab some food."
Gavin bounced in his seat. "Do they have chicken nuggets? And french fries? And lots of ketchup?"
"They have everything you want," Andre assured him, catching my eye in the rearview mirror with that gentle smile that always made my chest flutter.
