His eyes glistened like they were forged from the sun,scales thicker than iron,
She fell back to the ground terribly injured..
One hit from that hammer was so powerful,
it threw her six streets away,her phantom nano suit powered down, impossible?!
She shrieked,
June made this for her,
The larva dripping from his hammer ruined it, She stood up positioned in a fighting stance, ready to attack again,

Phantom middle school
Back then, she was only zaya, the regular thirteen year old girl, In an anthropomorphic world.
she let out a deep sigh as both of her hands were raised up while she stretched,it's been a long week.
The fan tweaking above like it was tired of it's job,the chatter of students filled the air, bringing a satisfying sensation to her ears,
Her gaze fell on her teacher,who was sitting on the wooden red pale desk at the front of the class,
pushing the chair backwards, slowly, she stood up,the class fell silent,
The teacher wore a faded green outfit,large boots,
her body as huge as that of six foot bear,
her sleeves rolled to the edge of her elbow,her blonde hair short like that of a man,
her eyes,sunken, twitched as she was searching the desk for a book,
she was a member of the army,
After what has happened this past times,
civilians were still prone to harm,it had all just died down recently,
And in order to be cautious and maintain balance,
soldiers like Mrs Bennison have been recruited in schools as teachers for a temporary period,
Mrs Bennison finally grabbed a book,
holding it closer to her face as she gave out a rare smile,
remembering the old days where she was also a student,
Mrs Bennison raised her head up directly reaching zaya's gaze!
she gave a cold stare which made zaya feel tense in her bones,
She was a fox. It has been a long time since the war started but some people still feel hatred for the "beasts".
Zaya was not too surprised, judging from Mrs Bennison's look she must have had a lot of experience from the war.
she could feel the hatred in Mrs Bennison's stare,
which suddenly vanished like it was never there,
Mrs Bennison turned,
walking towards the black board with a chalk and a book in her hands,
chalk screeching,
she wrote a topic on the board along with her name,
"social science and their components"

June shrugged,Mrs Bennison has been their teacher for a while now,
and to her it's cringe knowing You're smarter than your teacher.
She swiped the pages of the textbook on her table to and fro,
furiously keen on searching for what Mrs Bennison was tutoring,
but it was useless since she realized Mrs Bennison already dropped her text book on her desk!

Gesturing her right hand vertically on her left without any understanding of what she was saying,
To June it was a disaster.
She shook her head resting it on the table in disappointment.

Ashara holding her pencil tight,was sketching an image of her self,
a smirk appeared on her face as she began shading,
To her she didn't discriminate cats at all,
she rather be a cat than a human,
it'll make her cuter she thought.
Her smile broadened, it's been a while after all,
she has missed her former look and qualities. She didn't want it that much but she knew there's going to have to be a change very soon..
A little drop of water appeared just below her retina but she wiped it before anyone could notice,
she wasn't going to be a weakling.
She kept the parchments of paper in her bag then she tried to focus on what the teacher was scampering about.
Pauline and Zoey sitting at the back of the class their legs crossed,glaring at each other,
it was a staring contest they barely knew a teacher was in the class after all they were the richest kids in the whole middle school,The only ones who weren't affected by the plague,
with Zoey slightly richer than Pauline there was nothing to worry about.
Zoey snarled has her eyes were itching,
They made a bet and whoever wins would have to put on different colours of make up,mascaras and nails for a month
To both of them,it was worth betting on,while some other kids around them were cheering on waiting for a winner to emerge.

"Yes what is your question" Mrs Bennison asked, it was Jamie,he stood up and began to ask his question,
June chuckled as she wondered,it was not worth a try, Jamie Alexander also known as the recent mayor's son,
one of the students in the class with a charming personality and spectacular charisma to fit in.
He was perfect in every way,
Natasha at the back staring at him with dreamy eyes,
she's been trying to get his attention for the past four hours but all her attempts resulted in constant failures,
not that she was that horrible,but she was tense,
if it was just love she won't be so desperate but after she was dared by the dynamic Duo,
Pauline and Zoey, she just had to, else she won't be accepted in their All rich girls clique.
Jamie sat,she braced herself up and spoke, "hi Jamie"
she said her voice trembling, Jamie looked to the side in response,
suddenly the atmosphere was tense,she encouraged herself,
she had one chance and she wasn't going to lose it,"umm" she startled,
She has been trying this for four straight hours yet all her thoughts seem to have vanished.
Jamie "Hey Natasha" he voices out with a warm smile as his gaze shifted meeting
Mrs Bennison location, Natasha's head fell on the desk as she shook it in utter disdain,she failed,
She was the queen of relationships. The thought of losing to some regular kid cramped her heart.

Zaya in the middle of the class oversaw these things like she was a prime minister of some democratic order.

It was considered safe at the onset but during the creation process it was stolen and released.
it spread like wildfire,people transforming into half human half beasts,
it was chaos,they were unstable.They called it "The marine death virus".
While some people turned into full animals,some others were half Breed,
while a very few were half Breeds that could actually switch to their animal or human form at any time.
In immediate response, The government of the world came together to discover a way of neutralizing the effect,
The "Anti Marine" vaccine created by Rask corp.
Led by an ethology professor Langley blades was made,
It took several months but it was soon regulated among the nations of the earth.

The old woman and the foxes
It was all going well until...
A half human half fox was in the thick woods,
her purple fur dimly shimmering in contrast to the darkness her eyes set on her prey just a mile away,
her eyes glowing in the black night the rabbit came out of the hole it has been hiding,
ready to grab some food to eat,
she dashed forward her claws scraping the bark of the trees as she leaped from one tree to another,
she was not letting this one escape. She was Zaya in her half Breed form,
void of any sense of human consciousness, she was ready to tear the rabbit into a thousand bits.
Tonight wasn't like any other night,six stars surrounded a red tinted moon,
it's been like that for a while and she knew if she didn't get the rabbit first the wolfs will.
Finally just a few meters away one leap should do it she thought,
She got down on all four. There was a small lake just at the front of where the rabbit was chewing a peanut it scrambled.
she leaped towards it, her mouth opened, showing the deadly fangs.
The moon shining right on her skin, everything seemed slow as she launched towards the rabbit,
the wind oozing across her floating body, then, her eyes blurred,
she saw an old woman who wore a white sheep rugged garment, a walking stick in her hands her hair white glistening,at her back many other people stood like statues about fifty of them they looked like there were in a village,
it was obvious, as they were all staring at a burning fire,
purple flames,
six girls dancing around it simultaneously,choreographically,but these weren't just girls they were foxes!
Half human half foxes! The old woman then spoke in some language that wasn't clear to zaya,but strangely she understood!
Without her leaps moving, In a thundering tone the she spoke
"Just the trigger you need child,now you possess your ancestral gifts,you will never lose your power,
choose the others and you shall take it back,all that is ours!!
She bolted back to life,her consciousness returned,
her expression in awe as she stared at the screaming rabbit,she was allergic to them!
as she was distracted,
She stumbled into the lake,
she heard some nearby voices as some tranquilizers were shot into her neck,she growled and yelled,
fighting the pain, slowly but surely she lost her consciousness.

The class assessment
"Zaya?,Zaya?! Ashara called, "are you alright," "what, me?
"of course, definitely, zaya said, a bit surprised," assuring Ashara,
"Zaya something's definitely up with you,is it because you look like a fox am telling you Zaya the vaccine process will be completed today,
See, it's already wearing off, I don't feel fierce anymore and am so sure it'll work"
"Thanks Ashara but it's something else"
zaya replied trying to avoid the conversation as much as she could,but there was no way she could pull that off,
Ashara was her best friend and she'd always get to the bottom of it.
"Okay Ashara you win, am gonna tell you later alright?"
Ashara smirked as she confirmed"alright"
Two straight hours as passed yet to zaya it felt like days,
there was a whole lot on her mind now and everything else seemed useless as the thought of her being a fox forever clouded her mind,
After all that's what that old woman in the vision said
"you will never lose your power"
Zaya shuddered at the thought of it.
Her hears suddenly twitched something was coming, something dangerous,
Ashara felt it too,their focus was suddenly concentrated towards the front of the class where Mrs Bennison stood,
And in retaliation Mrs Bennison spoke seemingly slowly "we shall now have the class assessment",
"What!"
Ashara yelled in a high pitched tone, "we literally just started the class!"
Mrs Bennison hands resting against her forehead,as she said "it's been one hour forty minutes since then,did you not notice at all,"
"of course we couldn't,Pauline responded" "we didn't get a thing you said,"
Mrs Bennison, bored of arguing, yelled "we are having the class assessment anyways".
She went back to her desk and began selecting some random books,while Zaya stared outside of the class.
"No need to worry zaya", Ashara consoled,
"Am sure we'll get a substitute teacher soon," "Have you heard?"Ashara asked with a beaming smile,"heard what?"
Zaya responded,
"Some members of the Rask corp are coming today to finalize our treatment!"
"They are?"
"I hope they'll be able to help find a way to solve my problem"
what is going on with me,

books landed on each of their desks. "get started" June said gesturing for them to begin their class assessments,
After a while, a part of the class concluded their assignments,
they all began to submit,Ashara also stood up, she had a nonchalant look on,
it was obvious she'd written gibberish in that class assessment,
At that moment zaya felt a strong pain in her body, it was probably her body trying to reject the Anti marine vaccine she'd been taking she thought,

The will to steal
An Overwhelming feeling rushed in her body like a blocked river that was suddenly unleashed,
breaking into a waterfall.
Her heart began pounding,rolls of water dropped from her forehead,she knew what this was,
Ever since she'd turned to a fox, she's become extraordinarily cunny,
Without a second thought, zaya grabbed Ashara's pen,
she'd done it so effortlessly without Ashara having the slightest clue about what was going on,
Ashara bewildered started pacing left and right shocked to the core on how her pen unexpectedly disappeared from her hands,
without giving too much care about it,
she grabbed her spare pen.
After a short while they all began to gather at the front of Mrs Bennison's red desk.
She stole one more, then another and another she kept in going till she slipped a bit while trying to get Natasha's,
"What are you doing zaya?! Shhhh,zaya whispered signalling her to be quiet then she dragged Natasha back to her seat,
I need you to play along she said as she showed Natasha the rest of the pen she's stolen,

Natasha gasped,
At that moment Mrs Bennison walked out of the class to receive a phone call,
"Look Natasha" zaya said,
"I have a plan to get rid of Mrs Bennison and am gonna need you to create a distraction. Could you help?."
"Of course I can!"
Natasha said smiling ferociously,
suddenly it struck zaya maybe including Natasha in the plan was not really a great idea,
she scampered to the front of the class as she got everyone's attention,
At first glance zaya was sure she was gonna spill the plan to the rest of the class,
Unexpectedly she began to sing a heart felt song referring about all they've faced while they were away from school during the shutdown crisis,
What ruined the moment was her terrible voice!
Even zaya was stunned at how bad she sounded,
Though it's the third day after they were given the vaccine it looks like Natasha as really recovered from her half bird form,
she sounded absolutely ridiculous,this was zaya's chance and
she took all of the pens including Mrs Bennison's!
Right when she was done
Mrs Bennison entered the class startling Natasha, she usually took a while before she came back from her important calls Natasha thought.
"Two months detention Natasha!"
"What?"
Natasha protested she was about to talk again when Mrs Bennison turned grim and asked
"should I make it one school year Natasha?"
"No Mrs Bennison two months is fine," she replied

Natasha was sent off stage immediately,
She approached zaya and asked "how did I do?"
"Great" zaya replied, now just one more thing,"What now?"
"It's not that much, I just need you to find three more people"
Then she whispered something into her ears and Natasha nodded in response.

Soon enough everyone in the class began to search for one thing or the other.
Then the principal and a few other higher ranks entered the class finding it extra rowdy,
Natasha who was beside me earlier was shocked to see me respectfully seated on my sit,
With her hands raised this garnered the attention of one of the officials,
"yes what is it?" he said as he gestured his hands towards where I was seated,
"I can explain what's going on here sir" I spoke respectfully.
Mrs Bennison here as refused to contain the students of this class
we've been like this since the past hour,
Natasha then continued this is causing some of us damages in our mental physique,
and whenever we ask a question on what she's tutoring she brushes our request off, without answering
Ashara added, knowing adequately well that we are the leaders of tomorrow Pauline said,
None of this is true, Mrs Bennison yelled,her voice slightly pale.
Zaya grinning as she sat at her desk everything was going as planned,
It was all settled when June tipped in,
June the smartest then said Mrs bennison your acts of misdemeanor is quite preposterous and we suggest an urgent coup.
Zaya looked towards June, she was really taking this seriously,even though this could possibly lead to the end of their middle school lives and they'd probably be in detention forever.
Unexpectedly everyone in the class joined in,
complaining like they were some sort of Master professors in English,
The officials calmed all of them down,zaya knew she had to put in a final touch.
Sir pardon me for the sudden outburst ,but for the safety of our studies,
please transfer her to a lower class which she can comprehend.
One official in black suit stroking his mustache said, this children are right you shouldn't fix them up with some amateurish teacher like this,
then the principal spoke in a commanding tone and said Sergeant Bennison reports to my office now!
Mrs Bennison walked out of the class head nodded,
At that moment zaya was unlocked from her cheeky state,
Though what she did was impressive in a way, it was rather wrong,but she couldn't control it.

She was still pondering,when Natasha approached her,"zaya!" she screamed "you were amazing!"she yelled,"really, I was?"
Ashara who suddenly appeared at their side, pouted,
"why didn't you tell me zaya?
Pauline all the way from the back of the class interrupted"
That was amazing girl"
Zaya could only smile wryly as she said it wasn't on purpose ashara,
I suddenly lost control of myself,
"What!?" but it should have started to wear off Natasha said,
"it's been three days",
June suddenly interrupted "if your still feeling signs,"
"it could only mean two things your one of those lucky people who could switch to their animal form anytime they so please or maybe,
she paused, "maybe what?"
zaya asked curiously,"
"June let out a sigh and said maybe you've been a fox the entire time"!
Through the PA system the vice principal spoke,
"ALL STUDENTS SHOULD APPROACH THE EMERALD HALL NOW, I REPEAT ALL STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL SHOULD APPROACH THE EMERALD HALL NOW "
"It's time for the rask corp event!"
Natasha screamed, followed by every one in the class yelling in excitement.
Selecting one or two things as they scampered out of the class,
"Ready?!" Ashara asked zaya as she yanked her back pack on,
"Not really"
zaya said smoothly as they both began to stroll out of the class,
The Emerald Hall is one of the many halls in the phantom middle school.
A public school owned by government and as been in operation for twenty years,
On this particular day some top members of rask corp have been invited to the school to finalize the treatment, this includes checking each and every one of the students,
Zaya as been on the line for almost an hour her eyes gently shimmering as she stared at the wide cylinder tube the students were entering,
Stretching their arms wide they were scanned by various machines and some glowing red liquid was injected into their bodies, they became perfectly human again,
While they returned to the healthy crowd most of the people were.

Zaya was in utmost anticipation as she hasn't really determined,if this fox abilities was going to be helpful or harmful she just had to hope for the best,
Zaya Lexington,called one of the rask corp members as he stood beside the cylindrical tube staring at some screen where their names were listed,
Zaya walked towards the tube and climbed the stairs that led into the entrance,
As she entered it she could see Ashara a few meters away in the healthy crowd staring in anticipation,
The machines whirred to life as they began scanning her body,
zaya holding her breath hoped for the worst,
After scanning, The machine beeped and spoke, forty percent of fox genetics located,set to begin purification,
zaya was excited as there was nothing wrong with her after all she thought,
She stretched her hands wide, as syringes began plunging into her skin it was surprisingly not painful.
She felt the rushing energy in her body subside,she was so glad.
After her treatment was over she was about to step out of the glass cube,
When the white bulb on the top of the cube turned red,
loud alarms resounded throughout the hall, the machine beeped and then spoke"primordial energy detected,all civilians should evacuate now"
"Security measures activated"
She could see the disastrous look on the officials behind the screen,
They were terrified, the whole hall transcended into chaos they began dispersing, then the lights went off,
Along with it came a loud growl!
The lights came back on,
Few paces from the glass cube were zaya stood there was nothing but a short creature with hands and feet of a normal human,big head,large teeth scattered hair, animal hide as a coat,
purple skin and a spear slightly taller than it in his hands,
it launched towards zaya's tube and began attacking it ferociously,No one could imagine such amount of strength would come from such a little creature,
zaya terrified beyond all doubt yelled in utmost bewilderment,
"what in the world was going on?!"she thought trembling
A strong beam of blue light shot towards the purple creature,in a blink of an eye it dodged,
it came from one of the soldiers that was nearby the tube he tucked his hands into his weapon as he aimed for another shot towards the primordial beast,
The lights went back off again but this time instead of coming back on,the purple goblin began to glow, it's spear became longer,and wider as an unexpected bolt of electricity shot from the spear's sharp edge towards the soldier's weapon, sending both the soldier and his weapon a few feet away,
Electric goblin!!
One of the officials yelled as they began scrambling out of the wall
Loud sirens began wailing,
Fortunately someone had called the cops!
The goblins attention suddenly focused on the cube ready to attack again was distracted by another beam of light which it dodged like it knew it has been coming since a millennial ago.
Zaya was still in the cube,deliberating
though the officials along with everyone in the hall thought the goblin was the primordial beast,
The raging genes that subsided in her body earlier have even turned more chaotic,
it was like the vaccine given before only made it angrier, and the sight of the goblin made it worse,her kneels fell to the ground has her body throbbed, she was trying to reject it as much as she could but she couldn't,her eyes began to blur purple fur began emerging from her skin like they were plants, her muscles expanding in her rage,she could see the cops have arrived along with some other soldiers,

The tube broke into a thousand pieces
Zaya,ultimately stunned, looked up, it was Ashara June and Natasha,
holding some heavy sledge hammers in their hands, they've come to save her,
even though it somehow felt like they were the ones in danger instead,
The battle against the goblin grew fiercer, the four girls began to flee from the scene,
As zaya finally got out of the cube aiming for the entrance with the other three,
her eyes locked to the purple goblin's location,it was fighting a dozen men, totally surrounded as they were striking it from different directions,
it dodged and parried the beams effortlessly like it was the top character in a gladiator war.
The goblin suddenly stopped it's spear attacks as it's gaze locked with zaya's, who was a few feet from the entrance and bowed before a bright light shone from its body enough to blind all that were few inches from it,
zaya stared in awe and amazement as the goblin vanished,
The four girls ran out of the hall like mouses running from a cat, outside of the school hall,as they were running Pauline suddenly horned as she parked the new car she just bought not so long ago,

it has to be a mutated creature with a complex mind and a unique ability to extract and control electricity enough to even teleport.
That's the exact definition of a primordial goblin Natasha said rolling her eyes.
Zoey absolutely lost, spoke,what the heck does that mean?
Ashara suddenly said,zaya did you summon it?
All eyes suddenly turned to Ashara then immediately to zaya,
zaya dumbfounded shook her head indicating she didn't,
"What exactly do you mean to summon Ashara?"
June asked?
Well it's very obvious,purple skin,vanishing only after zaya escaped and only coming when she was in trouble,
she gazed back at zaya.
A look of thought appeared on Zaya's face as she tapped on her chin and said "let's go home, My home,"
I think I've actually seen something relating to this somewhere there before, Pauline nodded as she started the car with a button,
slamming the accelerator like it was a trampoline, going at full speed.
The other girls except from Zoey yelled in bewilderment,
Their mouth opened wide,
screaming their voices out like they were in some concert.
Zoey seemed to enjoy the feel of her hair dangling in the rushing wind.
To her it was sublime.

They arrived at Zaya's home,
Pauline who was sitting on the driver's seat looked back and was surprised to see zaya was gone!
"Where's zaya?!" She asked, Ashara suddenly looked to the right where Zaya sat before,
noticing the seat was empty she was shocked

While June enraged said I think that's quite a bit too fast for a fox"
"Is today disobeying nature's law day?!"
She yelled as she saw zaya had already reached the front door of the house while staring at the door,
They all got down from the car, walking towards where Zaya was,
It's been quite a long while since zaya
was home last and she hasn't seen her parents since then she has always wondered if they were okay,
she was sure they were on the look out for her and she was finally glad to be reunited with them,
She gulped as the thought of them not being alive again crossed her mind she pushed the crazy thought back to the depths of her mind.
She felt her hands being held, it was Ashara,she was about to say something when the front door of the house creaked open,
it was zaya's mum!
The glass cup she was holding fell and broke to pieces as she was stunned at the sight of her daughter.
Zaya even more shocked fainted!

Her eyes were slowly adjusting to the dimly lit room,
she took in a deep breath as she was comforted by the siren atmosphere created by the air conditioner
Right beside the bed where she laid was her mum and dad staring at her intently.

Naya Lexington was a secretary who worked at a biochemistry industry somewhere in the city, while her dad Dan Lexington,
was a neurologist he worked at the largest hospital in the city
During the outbreak of the marine virus Dan tried all he could to save his daughter,
his attempts totally failed when there was an order from the higher authority to isolate the affected citizens from the unaffected ones,
On that day zaya's dad gave her a necklace with a purple diamond at it's center telling the unconscious zaya not to lose it,
At that moment zaya was snatched from him forcefully and taken to quarantine,
Zaya sat up on the bed as she slowly removed the necklace,
holding it in her hands,she grinned as she spoke, look dad I didn't lose it,
Rolls of tears fell from the eyes of their parents as they hugged their long lost daughter,
Along with Zaya's new friends they all ate happily together as one family.
After the wonderful launch Zaya took all the girls to her room as she told them about the vision and why she thinks it relates to the fox she's become. She also spoke on why she thought the vv corps might not be exactly what everyone thinks they are.
Zaya then walked towards the side of her bed,
staring at the image of an old man in the picture frame hung on the wall,
"What is it zaya?" "Does he have to do with your fox transformation?" "yes" zaya said,
With her back still faced to them,she spoke in a serious tone,
"you girls would have to come along with me on a dangerous adventure*
she said, as she removed the diamond necklace on her neck,
Inputting it into the diamond shaped hole in the cover frame of the picture,
The wall beside the frame shook as various cranks and thuds could be heard from inside the wall,
A square opening was revealed beside the frame,
she pushed it in with all her strength and then in the upper level of the square opening a scroll parchment fell,
zaya caught it just in time,
She opened the scroll putting it on her bed,
"it was a world map as wide as half of her bed,glittering, showing different Places ranging from Ancient temples to gem waterfalls to crystal locations,wolf dens, dragon statues, underground caves,moon crafts,witches haven,hunted pyramids,goddesses mountains,underwater ruins dimensional portals,priceless portions,lost empires, hidden magical islands..
Zaya grabbed her magnifying glass as she strutted her way down to a particular place,written on it was,
"The foxes magical den,"
Zaya stared back at her friends who were in utmost bewilderment as she said "would you come with me on this Adventure?"
"Yes!!" They all yelled in unison,
"Fine,"Zaya said, answering almost immediately,
Pausing,
she stared to the ground and said
From now on,
"I AM THE PHANTOM PAW"
and we,we are
"THE PHANTOM GIRLS!"
