She loved him like dawn loves the sky
Softly, wholly, without asking why.
He, on the other hand, chased the sun,
Dreams to conquer, battles not yet won.
He told her, "Not now, not yet."
And though it hurt, she won't forget
He called her beautiful, but drew a line,
A boundary carved in barrowed time.
Still she stayed, her heart unarmed,
Letting love bloom where it might be harmed.
"I don't need your love," she'd softly plea,
"Just let me love you, that's enough for me."
But nights grew colder, days turned gray,
As he drifted farther, mile by mile.
While he built his dream with steadfast grace,
She watched the distance take his place.
Now she waits, not sure for whom,
For him to return, or her heart to resume.
For loving him was both her light and scar,
A wish whispered to a fallen star.
